Thanks but too low unless you just want the console alone for £260. It is immaculate and works perfectly. It is the UK PAL specification.

I might be interested as long as the price includes delivery - you could send it by Parcel 4 Delivery (www.p4d.co.uk) which I think is pretty cheap

Are the triggers on the DUALSHOCK 3 controller included for £260?

Seriously, please can you list exactly what is on offer now for £260, as I'm getting a bit lost with the changes.

Also, Shoreham is a little far to travel (even from Kent) as this would boost the price of the console somewhat with the 'round trip.

Could you look into delivery costs (Parcel Force with insurance &/or Royal Mail Special Delivery), please?

Thanks.

Hi,

£260 gets you :-

PS3 60GB UK PAL Console in mint condition
Comes with original box inc manuals etc
AV scart cable
Power Cable
Backwards Compatible with PS1 and PS2
Bluetooth headset for online gaming
DS3 Controller
Triggers

P&P would be on top of this very cheap price. Parcelforce 48 comes in at £26.99 with £500 insurance cover but I expect there are cheaper alternatives.

OK... here's where I'm at (Duncan Bannatyne has a lot to answer for)...

I was really looking for 2 x 160Gb machines for my kids for Christmas, but as you know these are going to come in at around £750-£760 for the pair.

I have a release day 60Gb console myself, and in times of hardship with disposable income a parent has to make sacrifices.

I'm thinking that if I buy your 60Gb model, I (erm, Santa) could give my kids the same models on Christmas Day (so there are no "mine is better that yours" conversations).

£287 for your machine is obviously a lot less than £750, and I can then buy myself a 160Gb console & "save" a heap of cash in the process.

I'd lose the ability to play PS2 titles myself, but hey... that's what parenting is all about.

If I find that my disposable income suddenly increases between now & mid-December, I can always re-sell one/other of the 60Gb consoles.

Damn... I've talked myself into this now! :)

Have you had any problems at all with your machine?

Have you registered with Sony, and is anything installed (PSN Id, &/or software) on the hard drive?

PS. What version of firmware is installed? And do you know if all of the memory card slots, HDMI, RGB, and ethernet ports work OK?

DHL is £15 delivery with cover up to £250 or £20 with cover up to £500

Do you have a preference?

I have 'issues' with Initial City Link (as I'm sure many people do), and Porcel Farce has previously managed to break a PS2 console that I sent to a buyer here at HotUKDeals last year.

DHL, again, from experience buying here, proved to be totally incompetent in that they couldn't find my delivery address (on a property that has been standing the best part of 50 years).

BFN,

fp.

EDIT: I'm guessing Royal Mail Special Delivery is way too expensive due to the weight/size of the console (and they'd probably suggest Parcel Force anyway).

There is method in your madness, somewhere.........;-)

Machine is and always has been faultless. It has latest firmware as I have it permanently connected via ethernet to my router. I have only ever plugged a USB stick in a one SD card which showed up fine. Always connected via HDMI.

Registered with Sony in Nov 2007 and I still have the Argos receipt (October 2007). PSN has been activated but a system reset will clear the machine to factory settings. Not sure if this resets the firmware back but I can always do a full reinstall of firmware if necessary from my ethernet connection.

I have a Dartford postal code.

Shoreham is about 69 miles away. Even if I offer to meet you half way it is going to cost us both more than £7.50 (half of the DHL costs).

Annoyingly I was commuting to/from Brighton earlier this year!

Granted you have looked after it, but it is still (just) out of the 12 month warranty period, and £250 is a lot to spend on something that could be broke by the time one of kids unwraps it on 25 December (when it will be way outside of the warranty period).

depends on your mpg really. Mine does about 45mpg to it is about the same. I;m more concerned with what delivery drivers do with their parcels as many get damaged and claiming compensation is a minefield.

In any case, if £250 is too high for the console alone then its irrelevant. I'm in no rush to sell. Cheers.

Yep, totally understand your point. Why don't you just get your kids two of the 40gb ones priced around £250 each? Full warranty then although I have read often that Sony offer free repairs / replacement even outside warranty periods. The Sale of Goods act should cover it longer than 12 months.

My existing 60Gb machine's hard drive is always 95% to full capacity, so I probably would not want anything less that 60Gb. Yes, I know you can upgrade the drive, but I always (well, before current cash crisis) wanted to keep my 60Gb model as it was bought (in March 2007) [I'm odd like that in an eccentric (read: collector's) kind of way].

Obviously handing over my console to one of my kids is just like placing a sign above it saying "used to be in mint condition... now, not so".

If cash were no issue I would have taken your console no quibbles, as I know I could re-sell it if need be. But as mentioned it is an expensive 'mistake' to make... buy cheap... buy twice.

No disrespect to you... just to how electronic kit has the knack of failing at all the wrong times.

(Our tumble dryer failed last month, it was four years old, so I guess it was due a change... but we bought the Fridge, Freezer, Dishwasher & Washing machine in the same period... so I'm... no, I'm not going to even think about it).

I'm now undecided what to do for "the best".

2 x 40Gb new machines & £50 for 2 x 320Gb drive upgrades is probably the cheapest option (but, obviously no PS2 "backward compatibility"... that, to be fair, is the reason I'm in this thread to start with).

Nuts! (again).

Obviously if somebody comes in with an offer & you close the deal before I get off my jaxxy & make a decision (for once, as some would testify to), then fair enough.

Otherwise, I'm just letting you know I'm still mulling it over.

And again, even if you are not in a rush to sell, and need to try eBay. Go for it. My fault if it goes in the meantime (although to be fair, there's one on eBay closing in around an hour for £200 with no bids).

Finally, yes, I don't have a particular economical vehicle to meet you with. It would cost me more than £7.50 to travel the full, or even halfway.

Yes, I'm with you on claiming compensation.

I would like to think I would never give Porcel Farce any business again.

EDIT:

PS. Quick calculations...

130 miles (say 65 miles each way to you in Shoreham)

Average at 20 miles per gallon (I may get up to 25mpg, but then I may be sat in traffic for hours)

Cost of fuel per litre: Say £1.00

(1 Gallon = 4.55 litres; 1 litre = 0.22 Gallons)

Cost of travel: £29.58

(If I get 25mpg, this drops to £23.66. For comparison only; 45mpg = £13.14)

Fair enough.

You might want to think about getting a couple of cheap PS2's for B/C. Not to mention they double as DVD players. I never use my 60gb to plays dvd's due to the vast amount of power they consume compared to a standard dvd player or ps2.

I'll hang on for the full price offer and if it doesnt materialise then I'm not fussed. I;m just after a more economical console really in terms of power consumption (and i dont have any PS1 or PS2 games). Are there any decent ones worth renting.

Still got some PS3 games from lovefilm I have had for a week and havent even tried them yet as well into fifa09 :w00t:

Bioshock
Saints Row 2

just sent fracture back without loading it as hoping lovefilm will send me Deep Space or far Cry 2 in return :-D

:)

Both kids in question have a PS2 each at present... so those could be sold on if I (, Santa) kitted them out with 60Gb PS3 units.

Blimey! I could be here to the end of the day thinking/listing PS1 & PS2 titles I've enjoyed.

What kind of genres do you like? (I'm guessing by what you have listed above; First Person Shooters & Sports titles).

I have just bought a PS2 with a hard drive to keep my youngest entertained, but I'm sure he'd quite fancy a PS3 too! :)

I won't offer a trade plus cash as you don't need a PS2... ! :)

I was a PC gamer for almost 10 years, then I won an original grey PlayStation in a (PC game) competition [!], and have never gone back.

I guess you've come from Wolfenstein 3D/Spear of Destiny -> DOOM (numerous) -> Quake (and variants)? Quite by chance I was playing "Quake III Revolution" on the PS2 just last night! Very dated now, but fun all the same. A lot faster than some shooters on the PS3.

Oh... you'll have to try the "TimeSplitters" series on the PS2 for sure.

that deal seems too good to be true. Knowing pixmania, it probably is ;-)

We'll see how peoples' purchases pan out..............

Yes, you were right, the PixMania 'deal' didn't turn out to be useful.

My kids last night decided that they wanted a bigger hard drive in preference to a machine that was able to play PS2 titles.

Now, bear with me...

I was going to buy 2 x 160Gb units from HMV, but they've dropped the availability of these this morning.

So, I was then thinking I'd revert back to 2 x 80Gb units, but then thought that if I could buy your machine & find another UK 60Gb model before Christmas, all I have to do is wait & buy larger drives to upgrade them next year.

Damn kids!

OK... £250 for...

I believe Sony PS3 warranties are not transferable, but the inclusion of the original receipt may swing it if you've never made a claim previously. I am assuming you've registered the console with Sony. Is that the case?

Can we progress to "PM" to discuss payment details & courier options?
