how do you get the phone working without a valid sim? it usually wont boot up if there is a sim that is not compatible. is it possible the phone has been blocked?

where did you get the phone from? you would need to test it with an orange sim before anyone bought it off you

are you interested or not? im telling you it doesnt make or receive calls

Apparently the inactive sim can be because of problems with the 3g network. A few sites suggest turning off 3g and just using GSM, (this can be done in the phones settings). Then switching of the phone, and removing the battery for a few seconds. It seems to be a bit of a problem with orange and the k800i. Sorry for pointing out the obvious if you've already tried that.

innactive sim = black listed phone = insurance job/stollen

i should know i found a k800i that gave this message ant it was on the black list.

if it wasn't nicked etc you could return it to orange as faulty as all phones have 12 month guarantee

Think should give a bit more back ground information the k800i.
As there sometimes is problems with it showing invalid sim, search google.
But a common and more than likely outcome would be it is a barred/backlisted handset, as has been said above
#11
as it is barred I will offer £10 for it, can use it for spares :)
