Hiya, I'm not sure what your budget is but I'm selling my sub....
I'm selling my powered studio subwoofer. Model SU - 15 - 600 + indipendant high power class AB sub amp.
This is not your convensional hifi / home cinema subwoofer. This subwoofer is NOT available from hifi dealers and hifi retailers. If you are not happy with this item we will accept return of the item within 10 days of purchase and a full refund will be issued.
I'm looking for around £1100 for this as I really need the room in my workshop (I don't want to upset the missus!)
Useage of this sub has been minimal and is in A1 condition. The sub amp has only had 3 hours in total of use.
The subwoofer was constructed around a specialist spec to re produce frequencies down to 17 Hz with very little distortion at very high volumes.
The unit is powered by a high powered 400w RMS XTZ sub amp and of active design. Unlike conventional subs the sub (plate amp) is housed in It's own independant cabinet and is capable of driving 2 subwoofers with ease. This has three massive benefits over standard subs. 1) More freedom with placement of subwoofer in a given room. 2) No risk of interference and hum compared with other subs due to plate amps been put too near magnets. 3) Massive amount of flexability for use - can be also used as a passive sub ( used with an active x - over and a dedicated high power amplifier and EQ.) The finish of the subwoofer is a totaly awe inspiring hand selected REAL American black wallnut veneer from a very mature source (I feel kinda bad about that). The serial plate at the rear and the front plate are pure lasered stainless steel. Subwoofer is set on castors as it is seriously heavy (bass driver is 12Kg, total weight 61Kg) The amp box is high gloss black piano finished laquer.
So how does it sound? In short, Totally incredible. This sub will give you all you can take and do it in a dignified, distortion free no nonsense manner. Massive over the top lows with movies and rapid fast bass with music. I've yet to hear a high street subwoofer hit this hard without a fuss and still a ton of headroom. Even with light tracks like Madonna (cherish and La Isla Bonita) It makes your ribs rattle.
If you choose to use this passively at it's best with an amplifier of at least equal RMS wattage and top end EQ and active x-over. Having said that I've had this hooked up to an integrated 80w amplifier and eq and it will still give all you can take thanks to the seriously power sensitive driver. This sub is best crossed over at 120Hz if you use it passively but is excellent with mid bass and lower midrange too. Roll off is naturally very steep after 1700 Hz (36dB) due to the properties of the huge 4.3" voice coil. This allows use on all Integrated amplifiers without the need for an x-over and you will not damage the driver with HF by running it off an amplifiers "B" speakers.
