if it isn't already region-free, the region hack for SD-170E works with this model apparently - google for info...

Thanks liddle...I don't think it's region free but its easy enough to do and there's lots of places to get the codes by just searching the model.

"Progressive Scan"
Major selling point for anyone with a HDTV, progressive makes a bigger difference then the basic upscaling (although upscales do progressive too) .

does this play divx or xvid

I've tried a divx and it wouldn't play...said unsupported disc. I suppose it'll say the same for an xvid supposing i did it right. I just dragged the divx straight onto a dvd instead of sonverting to a dvd ???

so to answer your question i'd have to say divx and xvid is not supported
#9
ok ill leave it then thanks anyway
#10
ok thanks for letting me know
