I'm selling a water damaged macbook (model a1181). It was orginally purchased on the 16th Oct 1997, got wet in Nov 2008 and has just been sitting around doing nothing since.

It won't switch on but the battery is still showing as charged (see pic). According to the computer shop I took it to only the motherboard needs replacing but it was going to cost the best part £500 so I just purchased a new one.

I've not been able to test anything as it won't power up and the hard drive has been removed (back up purposes) so I'd be selling it as is and won't accept any refunds.

It will come boxed with the orginal software cd's/manual and charger. It been used and the case reflects this (very light scratches as you get with all apple hardware) but the screen is still in v.good condition.

Spec on the box states the following...

2.0Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
1Gb (2 x 512Mb SO-DIMMS) of DDR2 SDRAM (supports up to 2Gb)
13.3" TFT Widescreen Display; 1280x800
Intel GMA 950 Graphics Processor with 64Mb of DDR2 SDRAM shared
Built-in iSight
Slot-loading DVD-ROM Drive
One FireWire 400 port
Two USB 2.0 Ports
Optical Digital Audio Input/Audio Line In
Mini-DVI Port
Ethernet Port
AirPort Extreme
Shipping would need to be sorted between myself and the buyer. Payment to be made through Bank Transfer.

My bad, 2007 lol
That model came with a DVD Recorder, not a DVD Rom.
this would be such a bargain if you could get it working. Too risky for me though!
How was it damaged?
Buying a water damaged laptop is highly risky.

The water inside may have started to rot components and the whole thing may be totally unusable.

I think you will be lucky to get anywhere near £150.

a drink was split next to it and a bit got on the case which leaked through. when the guy opened it up in the shop, he showed me where it was wet, just a few drops, looked more like condensation to me lol it was dried off in the shop (not sure how) while it was there during the process with the insurance went on (4 weeks).

and for the people who are on here just to say "its not worth it, too risky, you'd be lucky to get that much", please don't bother posting, its really not helpful or needed...
I'll offer £50 if its of interest.

OP unfortunately (as you've found out) the motherboard is the most expensive part to replace. A friend of mine has just been quoted £955 to replace his Macbook Pro motherboard, because the laptop is out of warranty - crazy!

I'd be willing to take a chance on this laptop and offer you £70
