What about COA? as I want the VIsta one.

with a dell the coa goes with the computer. these will only be of use if you have a dell pc (of an allowed model) that has vista on and you have lost the disks for. legally of course ;)
#3
You dont need one, it will give a full install on a dell system.
I used it on a d620 with no problems, im not sure if the system had to have vista or if it will install on all Dell systems.
I can email you a pic if you wish?
#4
will it install vista ? - will have to partition disk and then will be able run xp and vista.
#5
Which version of vista is it?
#6
It will install vista on Dell systems, im not sure if the system had to have vista originally or if it will run on all Dell systems. Ive tried it once with no problems on a D620.

But aren't the OS already registered on the computer you bought them with ? Or does Microsoft not have a way to detect two versions of the same piece of OEM software running on two different systems? I have 4 Dell computers here, one running Vista Business, 2 running Premium and one running Ultimate. I didn't think I could install my copy of Ultimate on all four machines...

Do you mean am I interested or your interested?

If anyone wants pics give me an email address & I'll send them.
The disc says OS already installed on your computer reinstallation DVD on it, the D620 had XP on it & it worked ok on this. Im not sure how it works so you'll have to google it.

you could...but it would be naughty! hows the M1530?
#13
legally you can only install it on the machine it was bought for.

in practical terms the oem process uses a code in the bios to identify the model and only certain models are allowed to have the OEM vista without requiring activation. all new dells have the code to allow vista but older models will need to have the number entered from the COA and then go through the activation process.

didn't get it after all - using an M1330. And it's good, especially as it's small enough to grab with one hand when I'm going to the toilet. Means I can wipe my a** with one hand and type to you with the other.

that's what I have too...just installed the 320GB hdd drive in it yesterday...hence the lack of posts recently!!

Happy wiping, and remember to either wash your hands or wipe them with the kitchen towel...

(( Sorry OP for carrying on a conversation on your thread - this is the last. )) It's a pretty fiddly machine to open up though, eh? There are disadvantages to having it all so compact. And yes, I always use the kitchen towel. I've been well brought up.
