This is probably a long shot because hey who's got a brand new Xperia X1 kicking about but here it goes.

Basically I'm wanting a straight swap for my N96 (locked to Vodafone I presume as it is an upgrade from Vodafone) for a Sony Xperia X1 which would also have to be either locked to Vodafone or Unlocked oh and new like my handset.

Was offered the N96 or the X1 when I upgraded my handset and I hastily chose the N96 without doing any research as to which would be better suited to me and sods law it's the one I didn't choose.

Check out my eBay account for peace of mind, eBay user ID: SavageGizmo

Just make sure you have really good eyesight if you are getting the X1,Brilliant phone but high res screen makes it feel like you need a magnifying glass to use it,
#2
Luckily my eyesight is spot on

From your reply I guess you own the x1? Anything else worth noting about it, pros, cons?
#3
Yeah i owned it but recently my eyes arent what they used to be and i just couldnt use it without reading glasses,I though the phone was fantastic and the the build quality puts all other phones to shame,It feels like it should cost £1000, The only thing which depends if you use it or no is Iplayer which only plays in a small window ,i now have the 5800 which is okay and the screen is nice and big but it feels small time compared to the X1,

I've got an Xperia - it's almost new, on Vodafone. The only visible marks are on the side of the back cover - the paint comes of pathetically easily, the marks themselve are only very very small marks.

I'll be wanting cash however rather than a trade.

I also have a 5800 if your interested.

I did ring up to return this for the Xperia like I was offered but was told by the returns department that if I returned this I wouldn't get the Xperia, bit niffed really but I didn't want to risk it so I decided to keep the N96 and try find the Xperia on my todd.

I'd try them again and ask for the Pak code if no joy, normally focuses their mind if you threaten to leave

£200 for 5800 (£190 if collection). And £290 for X1 - if collection.

The thing is I don't want to be in a situation where I can't get the deal I'm on again.

I was only on a rolling monthly contract with Vodafone for £20 a month and when I rang up to cancel they offered me:

Free N96 or Xperia X1
600 minutes
Unlimited texts
Unlimited web browsing

for £25 a month

I was pretty suprised because I've got an o2 contract in it's last month and even they couldn't match this deal.

TBH I'd still try it, especially if you also have another phone provider, mention that, you do not need to use the Pak code.

It's all ball ache though and getting through to vodafone is a chore in iteself, usually on hold for 30+ minutes and at the end of it I probably wouldn't be able to get this deal again, sods law.

How much do you think this phone is worth if I sold it on? Do Vodafone contract phones come unlocked do you know?

You will get ALOT of money. You shoudl easily be able to sell it on ebay for £320+, the X1 is a very expensive phone and much more expensive than the N96.

And they are unlocked aswell.

It will be unlocked, and you are a looking at £250-£270 on ebay.

Minus about £10 ebay and paypal fees plus £7 delivery. So about £25-30 in fees aswell.

Tres gay.

Thanks for the info about them being shipped unlocked though, didn't know that. Only thought o2 contract phones came unlocked.

Looks like I'm going to have to keep a close eye on a cheap Xperia going through on the bay then unless someone comes up with the goods.

Dude did you just call me gay? :?

Lmao, I use the word tres for very for some random reason and I was referring to the situation that on your reckoning that I will only be able to get that much back for it on the bay.

Edit: Doesn't tres mean very in another language, I have no idea where I picked it up from?

Hmmm what did you get?

Also how long have you been with them and what's your usage like?

That £25 per month deal is A STONKING deal, considering the amount of mins you get and text.

I pay £20 per month for 250mins 100txt and Unlimited internet with Xperia. For £5 extra you get a far better deal - of course it's only a good deal if you plan on using those extra mins/texts unlike me.

I never end up using them all but my usage constantly fluxuates, one month I may use the whole 600 minutes and another hardly any. I like to get more than I'm likely to use so there's no chance at all in me going over my allocation and being charged something silly for phoning another mobile network for example.
