FT: Have 2 x 4GB Compact Flash Cards * Want XD card/s * (darn fuji camera!)

Liddle ol' meLiddle ol' me

Bought these for my camera but it won't recognise them although they are both recognised on the PC. Google tells me this is an issue with card size and my camera. The camera also takes XD cards so hopefully someone can swap. Thanks

Shipping/Payment: Trade

If you can't find a trade I may well take these off you dependant on price.

Missus uses CF on here D40 I think it is.

Ok, thanks. I don'd care how I get rid of these as long as I can get extra memory on the camera. I can always buy an XD card with the cash. Let me know if they are compatible with her camera and I'll give you a price to consider if nobody comes along with a straight swap soon. Thanks

What make of Fuji is it? I didn't know any of them took CF, I thought they were big pushers of XD

Anyway, considering Adam's offer above too, try these if you want:
http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/default.php?cat=6&type=6060&man=0&filterwords=&go=SEARCH&comp= - variety of ones there, 2GB seems to run about £11.50
    http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/6-/Search.html?searchstring=xd+card&searchtype=ELEC&searchsource=1 - same at play.com
Amazon's cheapest for a 2GB is just a tad over £12, it seems.

TheSaint should be weighing in any moment too!

Thanks dregan - rep added - It's a Finepix s7000. I've tried formatting the CF cards both on the camera and on the PC but each shows "card not initialised" message...

edit: found this 2GB XD at £9.99 http://www.mymemory.co.uk/xD-Card/Lexar/Lexar-Olympus-2GB-xD-Card-(Fuji-Camera-Compatible)

It's possible that your camera can't handle 4GB cards, a spot of googling threw this out, might be worth a wee read. Though that wouldn't explain why the PC can't handle it.

The s7000 is apparently a stonking camera too, I know a lady who had one and the photos it produced were amazing. Good luck!

Thanks again - yes, that would explain the cards. Btw, the PC can handle the cards - only the camera that doesn't recognise them. I know there is no problems with the cards, and one is brand new.

Yes, the camera is a very good one and the picture quality is better than any others I've used. The only reason I wanted higher capacity cards is that my daughter is a gymnast who has recently begun to compete in national competitions so I need space to record her routines like any proud dad would :) Looks like I might have to invest in a vid-cam instead....

    Cheers for the help

i've got a similar problem with my fuji s602z quite old now and uses cf or smartmedia(forerunner of xd i think)
funny thing is i know the old CF mini hdds were 4.3gb in size and it could handle those but not the recent 4gb cf i bought, think i need to try a kingston or similar??

    Sorry, missed this till now.

Yes, that sounds good actually, since mine would hopefully recognise all CF cards of 2GB and below

Could you just confirm the types/makes of card so that I can do a google confirm for compatibility (Type I / Type II) Cheers.

    Hi

The cards are 2 x Adata 120x Turbo Compact Flash, 1 x Dane-Elec 133xs, 1 x PQ1 Hi-Speed and a blue Kingston 1Gb. They all work fine in my 50d. If your still interested i can get them posted and you can try them. If your happy send the 4gb ones if not just return my ones? How does that sound?

Thanks - they've just arrived and I tried three of them and they work fine. That's enough for me and couldn't be bothered wasting any more camera battery checking the others :-D

Your 2 x 4GB cards will be in the post to you later today, tomorrow latest. They'll be easy to recognise as they will be in the same jiffy bag!

Thanks again - very much appreciated.
