I have a fat psp running official 2.80 firmware .
Is there anyone that can install the custom firmware? (Name price)
Or if you can give a detailed guide as I can't find a decent one online!
Cheers

Ok. Which firmware would you install? The 3.90-M33? What features does it have?
How long would it take you when you receive?

What is better about this than previous versions?
#8
There are people that will do it free for you.

Wait and see iff someone will do it before paying, unless you are in a hurry. :)

Well, if you send it to me I will do it for free, but you will have to cover the postage both ways, via special delivery, about £6 each way if memory serves me correct.

Ok SOunds good :)

why dont you just do it urself? its pretty simple. would he be able to use he tiff (or jpeg/bmp cant remember which format it was) method on his firmware? or was that 2.71? or would he need to use the pandora method on his firmware?

im not 100% on this but im sure someone can help.
#14
Oh christ.

Nothing more irritating than people who make it seem like they're doing you a favour to do this for money.

If you have a friend who has a modded one, just get him to go through the motions of making the battery and memory stick. It's really easy.

I've done loads, and yes, you do want 3.90 m33-3, as it's most compatible with newer games without needing a UMD in your drive, giving you more precious battery life.

He can use the 2.80 downgrader but that is not awfully safe, or there are the GTA or Lumines exploits he could use, provided he had those games and wanted the risk of possibly bricking.

Are you saying that I am trying to make money out of this? postage to me would be covered by him and me charging £6 to send it back is what it does actually cost, thus meaning I AM doing him a favour, sorry if your comment was not aimed at me but it seemed like it was.

No probs mate, although if it's PP please cover the fee's of 3.4% plus 20p, if not you could just put a check in with the PSP.
You only need to send the console, no leads, battery or anything else, that will cut down on the postage, just please send it to me via special delivery to make sure it is covered by royal mail for loss or damage, safer all round that way and means you will get it back the day after I post it back :

PM on it's way to you buddy.

Mike..

**Mike notes he is 1 post away from 2k!!!!**

Yep, can be done just as quickly and easily as the normal Phat version, as long as you have all the gear :)

Mike,
Is it easy/er to update the custom firmware than to install it from official?

Cheers
#26
If you were near Huddersfield my mate lives there and he is a geek at this kinda stuff and he would have done it for you and gave gifts on memory card!!!

Once I put you on custom firmware you will be able to update from the "Network Update" feature on the PSP, instead of it downloading the latest official firmware it will download the latest custom firmware and install that :)
Dark_Alex (the main guy behind the custom firmware, there are others who help him) is a legend along with his team, the things they have done for the PSP scene are a marvel.
If you dont have a wireless connection to do updates via network update then you will be able to download the latest cfw from D_A's site as/ when it becomes available, then it is just a matter of following some (simple) instructions or asking myself to give you a hand :

Mike..
#28
Cheers. Yeah I checked D_A site so there is an installer like the iphone?
#29
not aimed at you, mike :) Didn't see your post.

£6 is ace to have it modded, for killfelix's £15 though, I'd be wanting the battery and stick to keep :P Some bloke quoted my friend £45 before!

Mike, you sound like you really know what you're talking about with this one, to be honest I don't have a clue and that guide makes no sense to me! I'm sure you don't want to be wasting your time sorting out other peoples PSPs but I'd be extremely greatful if you could do mine for me, obviously I'd pay for postage both ways and I'd be happy to add a bit more for your troubles.
Anyway if you'd let me know that'd be wicked,
Nick

As I said to Snare before you, it takes me about 5 mins to install the firmware and maybe another 10 to go to the post office so it is no trouble at all really, just sent me a PM for address if you need it doing, or I can meet you if you happen to live near Ipswich mate :)

Cheers Mike. Really good job.
