Could you tell me how old it is? is there any warranty left on it? and the reason for sale?

Sorry for all the questions...
#2
Thanks for getting back to me. I dont want to offend you by offering a silly price! could you let me know what would be the lowest price you would take? I was looking at Dixons a while back and they had something similar (refurbished) for £379 with a years warranty..

From a quick skim on the specs it sounds like something I've been looking for - my brother is going to University soon and he's asked me to look up a laptop for him.

He's mainly using it for work but plans on using it for the odd session of playing Counter Strike Source.
Do you know whether or not this laptop would be capable of doing these tasks?

Please bear in mind that for the time being I am simply interested in more details seeing as I have yet to actually invest time in looking for a brand new laptop which meet my brother's criteria - I would however appreciate it if you could answer my queries.

Thank you,

Scar

This laptop will easily run CSS @ native resolution of 1280x800 with everything on high and will get around 30fps id imagine as a similar laptop i have seen run crysis with everything on low and at a low resolution but it had the same ATI graphics. So it will run CSS with ease.

As this can decode and play blurays which is probably just as if not more intense then playing CSS is another reason too.

is there a place i can download a demo and it?

as its an online game only, you wont find a demo for it im afraid. But it uses the Source engine which was thereafter used on Half-Life 2 which there is a demo for:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/219/

Although id state that Half Life 2 is slightly more demanding then CSS.

Hello and thank you for your response,

If you don't mind giving permission to run a Java/ActiveX program on your internet browser then check out this website:

http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/srtest/

And then select "Half Life 2" from the drop-down box (they use the same graphics engine so it will give an fair accurate/approximate answer to the game in question).

isnt that cause some cards use system memory as virtual memory to top up?

lol oh dear - at the very least it states the minimum and recommend requirements selected games require, one could use that as a reference and compare it to their hardware.

I would guess that the laptop for sale is capable seeing as it's capable to play Blu-ray movies and has a HDMI output... however I would rather have further confirmation. :p

but mine is a graphics card, and the integrated graphics is disabled and thus nothing assigned to it, and even still the maximum it takes i think is 256mb which is really strange.
But as quoted it tells you what the spec needed is anyways.
#11
Hi, one question, what kind of battery life do you get on this?

Part ex with Acer Aspire One netbook?
#14
Does it output @ 1080p via the hdmi port while playing bluerays?
#15
garbage456
well it looks amazing on the TV via the HDMI but I have no idea how I can tell if it coming out in 1080p.

Well the 15" screen won't do 1920x1080 but the graphics card when used with a monitor that can, might do..

I'd need to know this before committing to anything, 720p wont cut it for me I'm affraid..
#16
garbage456
what model please?

does it play flash sites, ie you tube, daily motion?

Just says Acer aspire One.

http://www.acer.com/aspireone/aspireone_8_9/

#17
garbage456

Only can find this one that has 2gb as opposed to your one that has 512mb and this sold for £82
http://cgi.febay.co.uk/Acer-Aspire-One-Zg5-Atom-1-6-Ghz-8-9-Laptop_W0QQitemZ320451345080QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_Laptops_EH?hash=item4a9c637ab8

can do a part ex, for your laptop with mine with cash in my favour of £270.

It was the Asda one bought for £160, plus £270 too much on top.
#20
garbage456
i see, well on fleabay they only going for about £80 so the most i can do is £260 really, but that is the max.

is this the one £150

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/318940/acer-aspire-one-150-asda

Thats the one tried looking for it, so no budging on price?

Says 120GB but on mine say 160GB HD, but yes 512RAM.

Battery lasts around 1-2 hours depending what your doing.
#21
garbage456
really wanted £350 for mine tbh, so if yours was £150 brand new and they are £80 on fleabay then £260 is the most I can do, sorry.

if you want to search hot uk use this search engine

http://hukd.garyrip.com/search/

dont use the hot uk one as its rubbish

Thanks, also whats condition like any more pics? £240 + my Netbook?
#22
Yes, what condition its it in and some nice quality pictures would be nice,

Im thinking just a cash payment really.. though as you said you were open to offers, it wouldnt have been for the full 350..
#23
could you give me the HP service tag number (usually on the bottom / underneath of the laptop)
#24
garbage456
I cant do any more pics till I get home. Any pics of yours?
£240 to low sorry

What OS is it?

Its Linux, the no box bit has made me think as even though its only a box I like all my gadgets boxed. Will get pics up later but its pretine condition and fully boxed and a leather carry pouch with it.
#25
Am I right in thinking this would be just the laptop with charger?
#26
garbage456
where is the service tag number, i can see a vista number ,a serial number , another number on a red tag?

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=1842189&lang=en&docname=c01300427

basically give me the product and service numbers on the sticker thats shown a little bit down the page on that link, (dont need the serial number)
#27
garbage456
i wouldnt need the carry pouch if you wanted to sell that separately

It would be hassle plus it protects it, look smart. I will get back to you.
#28
garbage456

great condition imo, no peeling, no scratches, screen in perfect condition, i dont think i got the box as when i sent it back 1 day after getting it (as the usb port was loose) they never returned it in my box.

garbage456;7033534
well there has been a lot of interest in it so no need to reduce it if i dont have to, but I always keep an open mind.

garbage456;7033548

£240 to low sorry
