What do you mean 'Legal'?
Pictures?
How much?
banned#5
I mean legal as in not 'illegal' like petrol ones.
Will upload pictures when I know how to from my pictures.
I am deciding price now (what price are you thinking of)
banned#6
dino i think there was some big thing going on when they first came out, about where you could legally ride them (only on private land or something like that)

I know they obviously can't be used on roads with cars but I think if you found somewhere quiet without cars or many people you should be fine???

Yep, I'll have to agree with you on that.

Admittidly I cannot find anything to say they are legal but equally to say they're Illegal. All I can see is petrol mini motos are illegal. I always thought because they are electric they just count and kids ride-on toys.
banned#18
The main reasons for petrol mini motos being illegal was because they were too fast and way too loud, you can't even hear this electric one and the speed is reasonable but not dangerously fast.

It's illegal to drive a mini-moto on roads, pavements, beaches or in parks.

Illegal use of a mini-moto can mean a ban from driving, even if you don't have a licence yet.

Repeated revving of an engine can be anti-social and distressing to others.

Drive safely - wear safety clothing including a helmet.

Mini-motos are designed for only one rider - don't try to ride with more than one person on your bike.

for all intents this " Bike" is a motor vehicle , and for that end you will need the following, driving licence, insurance, index plate, mot , brakes back and front, protective equipment( crash helmet), lights.

Sorry to be a bore but also if your disqualified from driving dont think you can get round your ban using the "bike". as you will still be disqual if caught and off to pokey is the option..

Best to use it on PRIVATE LAND only, and make sure that the public dont have right of access or you might find your up the creek as it wont be PRIVATE...

Always happy to help :whistling:

This is taken from a word document that is available on The West Midlands Police website (you can download it here).

"GO-PEDS, MINI-MOTOS, QUAD BIKES and ELECTRIC SCOOTERS

Go-Peds, Petrol Scooters, Micro-Scooters, Mini Dirt Bikes and Buzzboards and there may well be a few other names for these current, trendy forms of transport favoured by many youngsters. Some of these machines are capable of speeds up to 25mph and Mini Motos up to 65mph.

All the above are in fact motor vehicles (DPP v SADDINGTON). They must meet the requirements of construction and use regulations. It applies to both petrol and battery powered machines."

Sorry. :(

Still, if you have somewhere where you can legally use it, it looks like fun! :)

at the end of the day its still classed as a propelled vehicle and have to be registered in the same manner as a motorbike, car etc and as such need insurance & you are liable to pay road tax

so legally you cannot sell this to anyone if you have not registered it as the first owner

just to show im paying attention

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinclair_C5

this is regarding the sinclair c5 ,an electric errrrrr thing from the 80`s , point of note is

It had a top speed of 15 miles per hour (24 km/h), chosen because vehicles unable to travel faster could be driven without a driver's licence in the UK.

so the bike will require tax , insurance and the usual round of wallet opening thanks to the greedy barstewards in london
#31
before i forget , to register any vehicle you need a certificate of year of manutactor from the maker , best of luck getting one for an elec bike

i think people are going a bit ott on the legalilty of this bike. probably the op's fault by mentioning the word 'legal' , but this is being sold as a kids toy not something to go to work on. the problem that the petrol bikes had was the noise, which neighbours etc complained about, these electric bikes are quiet so don't upset the neighbours so no complaints.
my 2p worth
