LENOVO THINKPAD R61 - NEW & BOXED £400.00

I have for sale a Lenovo ThinkPad, which is basically brand new! Been opened to check contents, wipe Windows that came with it, format and re-install Windows XP Pro, SP 2.

The item is boxed with usual accessories such as mains adapter, charge, instructions, etc.

I cannot find too much info regarding this ThinkPad online (ain't looked too much to be honest), but below is the specs i know of it:

Intel Core 2 Duo
T7100 @ 1.80GHz
1Gb RAM
80GB HDD
15.4" TFT
Windows XP Pro, Service Pack 2

Prices online seem to vary rfom between £600-£800, so i am looking for £400 + £20 for P+P, for quick sale.

As i say, item basically brand new, never been in use except to format.

Any questions, please ask, and pictures can & will be provided upon request.

Payment by BT preferrably, although Paypal Gift (else buyer pays fee's) also accepted.

Thanks.

Due to a 'grey' area brought to my attention by site mod, the laptop will now come with WINDOWS VISTA (has COA for it) installed, rather than XP, as first stated.

Cheers.

Does this have the appropriate COA for XP Pro? Has the COA been used elsewhere? What version of windows was on it when you got it?

Hi,

The COA is for Windows Vista Business (OEM), which was pre-loaded on laptop.

However, as it was my belief that Vista has compatibility issues with some programs etc, i was advised it may be appealing to a wider audience, if Windows XP was installed, which is what i did.

Hope this helps, cheers!

If your instal is not a legal one with an unused elseware COA you cannot sell the laptop here.
Please confirm or the thread will be locked.

Hi,

The Windows i have installed has come from a copy i have which is a multi-user license, therefore nothing ilegal on my side, as licenses have been paid for.

If however this is not acceptable, i can easily put Windows Vista back on, use the COA and serial posted on laptop label, and take it from there.

Thanks.

There are a few different types of multi-user licence for Windows, some are for use in one residence, some are business ones and the way in which you are allowed to sell them off can be very limited and sometimes impossible. You would have to look at the smallprint to see if you can sell it on. Best thing may be to reinstall Vista if there is any doubt.

Hi mate,

Thanks for the info.

I have had a we chat with mod, and we both decided exactly what you said, about re-installing Vista. I have said i will get this done later today, and i have already edited post to say so.

Thanks for advice!

No problem, just didn't want you falling foul of the forum rules and maybe a future buyer having problems with the legality of the OS. Good luck with the sale!

First the good news - for anyone wishing to load XP, the link below, suggests you can downgrade from Vista Business - provided you have access to a legitimate XP install CD (even if already used elsewhere!) - say from another PC or laptop ...

http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/08/22/how-to-downgrade-from-windows-vista-business-or-ultimate-oem-edition-and-install-windows-xp-professional-without-extra-charge/

Now the bad news -your asking price is way too high - small HDD - only 1GB ram (1 stick or worse 2x 512MB) - old chipset. Is it a R61e or R61i model?

I really think £300 would be a fairer price.

Ebuyer here ...

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/238348/lenovo-thinkpad-r61i-15-pentium-dua/

was selling brand new R61i's for £299 a few weeks ago, these had the slightly slower T2310 CPU but 160GB HDD.
