I have a Linksys WRT54GS v5.1 with DD-WRT v24-sp1 firmware installed.

The router is pretty much new. Only opened and used to install the firmware.

This Firmware will allow the router to work as more advanced router with additional features than the standard Linksys firmware. See the features below...

For example this device could be used as a standalone router or connected as a client bridge as a wireless receiver for and Xbox 360 console or any other device that you require a wireless internet connection to.

A nice quote from xb0xGuru on another thread explains what DD-WRT does:
"Once flashed [with DD-WRT], you'll get more options to control the functionality i.e TX and RX strength for wi-fi, WDS, QoS and for me - SSH tunnelling. It means that combined with DynDNS, you can access the router from anywhere in the world (recommend setting up SSH keys if you're looking to do this) and from something like PuTTY, have local access to any of the network-enabled services on PCs currently on the network. i.e you could have shared folders and need to access documents, or even stream music etc."

DD-WRT Features:
* 13 languages
* 802.1x Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP)
* Access Restrictions
* Ad Hoc
* Afterburner
* Client Isolation Mode
* Client Mode (supports multiple connected clients)
* DHCP Forwarder (udhcp)
* DHCP Server (udhcp or Dnsmasq)
* DNS Forwarder (Dnsmasq)
* Dynamic DNS (DynDNS, easyDNS, FreeDNS, No-IP, TZO, ZoneEdit, custom, and others)

I believe this is a "cable only" Router so will only work on a Virgin (was NTL / Telewest) cable interent conection.
which you get a free router with anyway :S
I think you are missing the point with this. Because it has the DD-WRT firmware it make the router very versatile. For example can be used as a wireless client bridge with your ADSL router to connect non wireless devices such as an xbox 360 - instead of paying £60 for the wireless adapter that will only work with the 360.

The DD-WRT software gives you a top class capabilities that you would only usually get on a high priced router.

You can also use this router with a ADSL modem if you want to.

Wow, did not know that they give away free routers now...
might try cancelling my cable unless they give me one :)

but yeah, DDWRT is good, especially using it as a bridge, as cool said.
Can it be collected?

if so where abouts are you ?

I am in Lancaster (LA1) if you wish to collect in person for £30 cause it will save postage and paypal fees.
Unfortunately, I'm along way away, but seems like a good deal.
I can post it for £35?
I have problems with getting deliveries (always miss postie) and really need it for the weekend as well, but thanks anyway.
No problem.
