Just out of interest, is this the model number: md96500 and is the remaining warranty transferable? Thanks :)
#9
Hi Ray,

Easy question first, yes it is a MD96500.

I've just phoned up Medion and the warranty is NOT transferable but I will cover the postage from the buyers address to my house for the remainder of the warranty. That way the warranty is still valid.
Or, I can let the buyer have my O/H's Laptop that has NOT been registered. I will include the Aldi receipt for £899.99.

You don't have to register these with Medion when you purchase them, the only reason mine was is because it had a fault.

The accessories/Games etc have not been used, these Laptops were bought for work and have not left my office.

I am only selling one, either one I don't mind.
I will restore it to the original factory settings.

Thanks for the info :)

Ummmmmm, maybe you are right. :?
#15
i just dont have £650...lol...less i wouldnt hesitate to buy this from steve. its a great laptop..plus he is a trusted member on here and ebay. many ppl could vouch for him.
#16
Thanks tazandsaz

I think £650 is a little too much for it personally, as you can get a brand new Dell 6400 with 120Gb hard drive, 1024Mb DDR2 RAM, 1.6GHz Core 2 Duo CPU and more for around £699

Did you drop this one or were the replacement parts due to hardware failure? They're quite extensive repairs :| Thanks.

Ummmm, I thought it was a reasonable price for the specs and warranty. I may be willing to drop it just a little bit. (in price, lol)

In December the screen started to flicker and it gradually got worse. I contacted Medion who arranged for it to be picked up.
I phoned up Medion just before Christmas and they had to order an 'Inverter' from Germany.
When I got it back yesterday the repair note said they had fitted a new Motherboard, TFT and an Inverter. I put a UV mark on the back of the Monitor and that is new, as is the Keyboard.

Thanks for the extra info, from the original post it seemed rather a lot to go wrong and that might be what's losing interest in it. At least they've made it virtually as new then eh? So you could get lucky :)

Is it not worth using eBay on this type of sale, because of fees etc.?
#20
Probably the biggest problem is it's an old pentium M processor.. and 650 quid. Can do far better new for the money with a legit 12 month warranty starting when you recieve it.. not a machine with a proven fault, and less than a year left on warranty.

To be honest I thought I'd try here first, I will put it on ebay if I don't sell it here. Maybe next week, but I'll let you know so you can close this post.

As I said earlier, they can have the 'other' one. That has not been registered with Medion. In my opinion this would be the better choice because of the new parts. I ain't bothered either way.
#23
OKay :) Thanks for that!
#24
Still wont it only have the warranty from original date of purchase? or do medion give warranty from date of registration?

It came with a 36 month warranty, I suspect that will be from date of Purchase which is October 2005. That means the warranty will expire October 2008.

Let us know how it goes...

So many good deals posted here it's hard to be tempted by a used machine even if it has better pedigree :)
