These always remain the property of Virgin Media as such no one is legally allowed to sell one to you

Also the only thing a Virgin modem is good for if your not for the paying customer that Virgin sent it to is to clone someone Else's modem onto it which is again illegal

So are you saying these are useless then as I have one from when I was last connected to ntl/virgin media about 11 months ago,

They didn't ask for it to be returned so I still have it

Best to bin it then?

What RedIron has said isnt true at all i wudnt worry!!! They are standard bits of kit, usually free on contract(not owned by VM).

Theres always gonne be people who will buy them. But if they ever do ask for it (which knowing them will be never) you better have a good excuse lol.

Its not a phone you know. What he said is 100% correct.

I have a blue one from my old house. When I moved house and left Virgin, I said what should I do with the kit, they told me to bin it or take it with me as it is not required back.??

I found it - its a webstar one quite small ..cant find the charger though?

If it looks like this,

Then £6 seems reasonable. Paypal Personal is fine.

To be honest, and no offence, now that this thread has come to my attention, I see they go for triple that on ebay.... So will take over that way I think.

I am not in a cable area, so useless to me, or I would be tempted to look further into the 20mb free..

You offered it to someone for £6 including postage.

Your modem probably has the updated bootloader anyway which would make it almost usless ;-)

It has not been plugged in since I moved house last year???

Relax.. I did say I was looking into it..

If you look at the ebay listing, they for around £6-8. Modded are around £15-20! I need one as I have moved house and left it behind, have transfered services to my new house and they asked me where is my old modem when they came to fit it yesterday, so I need to find one quick :(

http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/legal/oncable/terms.html

From virgin Media's T&C's

Where we hire equipment to you it will be our property at all times and we may need to alter or replace it from time to time. For us to do this, we will need reasonable access to your home.

Keep the equipment under your control (for example, you may not sell it, lend it or hire it out to anyone else, put it up as security for a loan or mortgage, or allow it to be seized under any legal process against you). You must not move our equipment from your home without our permission;

If we or you end this agreement, or you decide to disconnect from some of our services, you must return our equipment to us (or let us collect it from you if we choose to do this). You must return equipment or make it available for collection in a reasonable condition, allowing for fair wear and tear. If you fail to return or make available the equipment for collection for any reason, we are entitled to charge you for the replacement cost of the equipment. If we hold any money we may use that money towards the cost of the equipment. If we have supplied you with any additional equipment, we'd encourage you to dispose of it responsibly if you're no longer using it so please contact us for further information about disposing of your additional equipment.

what do you intend to do with a Virgin modem anyway, as Virgin supply every customer with one, also may I add that Virgin modems are area specific and it will be easier said than done to get Virgin to activate it for you if your not the customer it was sent to

They didn't bring a modem, expected me to have the old one. They want £30 for a replacement. I told them I would get my old one so i wouldn't have to pay £30, - but that is or was at my uni address, probably been disposed of by now and I don't fancy trecking 110 miles to check if it's still there...

Chiptivo, if you change your mind, im still interested.

If someone else has a blue modem, im willing to pay £6 for it.
