Please be advised, all buyers and sellers should satisfy themselves that either party is genuine by providing the following via PM to each other, as well as to Admin or Moderator:

1]Landline telephone number Make a CALL to check out the area code and number are correct too!
2]Name and address including postcode
3]Valid e-mail address [no disposable addressessuch as @gmail or @yahoo for example].
4] Using PayPal then check out eBay feedback if there is any and make a small payment to and from each other to validate the PayPal e-mail address.
5] If possible, collect and pay for items in person
6] Only buy from Verified PayPal Members.

Do NOT proceed with a deal until you are completely satisfied with all details being correct. It's in your best interest to check out these details yourself.

This message is being inserted in all For Sale or Trade forum threads.

NOTE: Call landline number and Verification of PayPal Members detail above now added!

Excuse me for asking pavilion...but the fact that you are not with AOL anymore does not make the router redundant if you are with another broadband provider?..you simply use it with your new ISP

One further query is it the version 3 model??

i use a usb modem now .... not sure if it ver 3
#4
AOL and most other = ADSL

USB Cable Modem = DSL

I'm guessing pavillion has gone with NTL or Telewest?

We use the same Netgear kit for our Reps at work.
Great machines, never had a problem with them

Cable Modem = DSL pavillion!

Pavillion has said he now uses a USB modem, not a cable modem; this could be something like (amongst many others) a Voyager 105..

..or an Alcatel Speedtouch..

..both of which are USB ADSL modems.

What I don't understand pavilion is why you want to use an inferior USB modem rather that the netgear....from my experience you get a better broadband performance from the netgear..and of course you have wireless connectivity for a laptop or any other PCs in your abode.

Not sure what you mean, a cable modem isn't DSL at all it's 'cable' which is a different technology entirely. ADSL is a specific flavour of DSL, in this case the A is for Asymmetric since the download is much higher than the upload. The other main form of DSL in the UK is S(ymettric)DSL, where your download and upload rates are the same. Whereas DSL uses conventional phone lines to deliver the data, Cable (such as NTL or Telewest) use the cable television infrastructure.
