The fact that most of the people who bought a Wii are now selling it as they realise there is nothing going for it

Sorry but I love the Wii - we have a PS3 too which rocks too. They serve different purposes and wouldn't sell the Wii for anything.

The graphics on the Wii are rubbish, the game play is what makes it stand out more.
You really more involved with the wii, if you were involved like that for the ps3 or the xbox then its sure to be the top winner (a mixture of both great graphics and involvement like batting or the boxing game.

Not really seen this - either here or any of the other forums I frequent (and I tend to visit a lot).

I'm not saying that nobody is selling their Wii... but I disagree with "most of the people who bought a Wii are now selling it". That's simply not the case - and searching the For Sale section seems to prove this as it doesn't produce many results of people trying to sell their consoles.

If there was an abundance of owners trying to flog their Wiis, then the prices being paid would plummet as a result (price elasticity of demand... it's not a complicated subject, it's covered in Economics 101). However, the price of 2nd-hand Wii consoles isn't bottoming-out. As expected, it plateaued pretty quickly after Xmas, once all the parents who bought a Wii to be opened on Christmas Day had satisfied their little cherubs' demands.

Therefore, considering that "most people who bought a Wii" are not selling their consoles, it's a safe bet to assume that they do believe the console has something going for it. Similarly, the people who are still buying the consoles the moment they appear on shop shelves and websites across the country (and the world) also believe the console has something going for it. And the market analysts from Gartner, Forrester, Merrill Lynch et al seem to think it has something going for it, as they have predicted phenomenal success for Nintendo thanks to the Wii's popularity.

FT
Yoshiyuki Kinoshita, an analyst at Merrill Lynch, now predicts that by the year 2011, a third of all Japanese households and almost 30 per cent of all US households will own a Wii.
...
Wiis continue to sell out on delivery in stores in the US, Europe and Japan, and are changing hands on online auction websites at an average 35 per cent premium to their usual retail price of $250.
...
Although the console war is in its early phase, analysts believe the position established by the Wii could ensure its supremacy for several years.

Some analysts had assumed the initial appeal of the Wii would quickly wear off in the face of the raw computing power of the PS3.

“There has always been a strong concern that the Wii was gimmicky,” said Credit Suisse analyst Jay Defibaugh, “but each passing month assuages that.”

But, hey, let's not let facts get in the way of slagging-off the Wii ;-)
