Nokia N70

Hi,

I've been a bit of a lurker on the main forum for a while, but this is my first post.

I have a Nokia N70 which I don't really like - however I'm still under contract with it. Am I able to sell it, or is it technically still owned by O2 and is their property? The idea would be that I keep my SIM , put that in an old phone (SPV 500 which I'd need to try to unlock), and sell the N70.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

it is the sim card that is under contract not the phone,as long as you keep the contract going for the contract time that you took out,you can do what ever with the phone.
how much would you be looking for.

Hi Tea-towel,
Welcome to HDUK.

You are free to sell the phone but if your sim card gets lost or stolen and you need to report it as lost make sure the N70 is not cancelled/locked as well as the sim card.

Thanks for the responses.

I'll just try and figure out how to unlock my Orange SPV 500 (and see how much that costs) - then I'll work out a price for the N70.

Thanks again.

if you call orange, the will send an unlock code to you,the way you pay for unlocking it is easy they ask you to add credit and they deduct it and send you the code.

Ive done this before and i dont think it works unless you take the sim card out pronto, im sure the o2 company can send a signal to the sim to lock it and the phone aswell. they register both numbers sim and phone at the place where you got the phone.
Altho saying that if you do keep paying the payments to the end of your contract time then the phone will be yours as you will have paid it off (then you can do whatever you want with it and they send you an upgrade)
Just dont miss any payments or the guy who bought it fom you might be knocking on your door asking why his phone has been locked lol eerrrrrr

I've just got around to SIM unlocking my C500 - is anyone interested in the Nokia N70? (although the message above does worry me slightly that if I sell it while still under contract O2 will lock both the SIM and the phone - perhaps I'll phone O2 before selling)

Looking at other sales and ebay auctions I think a guideline price of £100 seems reasonable (please let me know if it's not!).
- the phone comes with box and everything it came with when I bought it
- as mentioned in my first post, I am selling this phone because I prefer my older SPV C500 - the buyer must understand and accept that the contract I bought this phone/SIM on is still running (although I don't think this has any implications for the buyer)
- the phone is in good condition - it has been in a protective case since I bought it. That said, there are a couple of places where it doesn't look like new - where the shiny metal around the outside of the display is a little more or a little less shiny
- I don't want to post the phone - this is so that the buyer can inspect it before paying (so they can see the 'shiny issues' mentioned above). I'm located in Epsom, Surrey.
- I am unsure if the phone is unlocked. It's been used with an O2 contract, however when I put my Orange PAYG SIM in it seems to work with that too - at least to the extent that I can make other phones ring. I haven' really tested this much further - but if it's important to someone I can investigate further - I have access to an Orange and a T-Mobile SIM. However, for now it should be assumed to work on O2 only.

I work for o2,

the contract phones we sell are already unlocked and unbranded which works in your favour when selling them on as they go for a tad more than say Voda,Orange and 3 branded/locked ones.

Also it really doesnt matter about you selling it on and losing your sim at some point, just tell them you gave the phone to a friend as you couldnt use it or something, they always ask you first if you lost the sim AND the phone, and if you also want to block the phone aswell (just say no), if they do it by accident the process is also reversible so it isnt much of an issue, good luck with your sale :)

Thanks very much for the information amino

Sorry but i had a contract phone with T-mobile in my younger daft days and i didnt pay the monthly payments, thus being blocked.
i then went to a shop who unblocks phones and he tried it and it was unblocked for 2 days then blocked again. They must send out a signal evry few days os something like that, also they CAN block the phone aswell as the sim.....as mentioned before (look up) but only if the original sim is in the phone as it passes thru the sim then into the actual phones memory.

well of course they are going to do that if you dont pay your bill, thats just common sense.

if you re read my last post, i did say they can block and unblock the phone remotley as well as the sim, regardless of what chip you put in it can be blocked. The only way around this is to sell the phone to an overseas buyer.

And if you read the first post, the chap wants to continue using his contract but just with a different phone....not forget about it and not pay it.

Thanks for the offer, although unfortunately I'm not interested in a PS2.

Would anyone be interested in this if I added an Xbox (with 4 games (burnout revenege, baulder's gate 2 dark alliance, top spin tennis and splinter cell chaos theory, and 2 controllers (1 original, 1 third party - (original controller wire has been nibbled by rabbits but still works)) and a Gamecube (no controllers or games) and upped the price to £170 (or reasonable offers considered).

Just to clarify on the phone - I don't expect anyone to 'take over my contract' - I'll just move my contract sim into a difference phone freeing up the N70.

Again, collection only please (Epsom, Surrey).

I am interested in the N70 (not the consoles); I've had a look around and could offer £80.

Actually; what sort of condition is it in - and does it come with any accessories/box etc?

LMK, cheers.

Hi tea-towel...

You never did come back to me...

However, I am still very much interested in this - but in view of this thread illustrating it new for £134.95, are you flexible on your price?

As I stated before; I am solely interested in the Nokia and not the consoles... Your initial posting for the bundle was £170, which you've dropped by £40. Assuming you're willing to sell the N70 separately, and you listed it originally for £100 on it's own, I'm willing to negotiate on my offer if you like. And I'm happy to pay insured P&P.

LMK... cheers!

Anyone else wanting to unlock a C500 (see further up this thread) check out my post in the free software thread.
