You can buy a JAP one cheap from Play-Asia but they are cack unless you can read japanese and you're really into obscure asian stuff and RPG's.

A US one will have no benefit over PAL unless you want to run imported EA stuff.
#3
I wouldn't mind a US one, as they have a) cheaper games and b) more games - but they are roughly the same price as a UK one - which is a bit steep!
#4
yeah with US one u can ge rock band for like 30 quid!

No, you don't know what you're on about - Japanese 360s are ALL in English, most of the games are too.

What? No you can't unless you only want the game with no instruments, which would be pointless.

Right, what part of I have lived in Asia, come from a Korean family, and know more about these things than you do do you not quite understand ?

If you want proof that Japanese 360s are in Japanese then sign up for a Japanese Silver account and you will notice the funny squiggles on your screen and I know the Japanese version of Blue Dragon is in full Japanese because I OWN IT.

Seriously, I am sick to death of you giving people the wrong information, you're at worst a liar and at best a clueless idiot.

You realise that you would then need a stepdown transformer though and that the kind required by the 360s PSU could cost you the best part of a hundred quid ?

Where did you pull £100 from?

£30ish, tops.

/edited to add

£24.99 + £7 shipping

Oh, the irony...
#9
No mate, you're gonna need a really high powered aluminium one for a 360, unless you fancy blowing it up that is.

I have heard that an EU 360 PSU will work with an NTSC console, but it has never been confirmed officially and I've never wanted to try it.
#10
Spark
I have heard

Ah, so they have told you...

Well, they are wrong.

The Transformer I linked to will work fine, and not 'blow up' as you claim.
#11
Who are 'they', and what the **** are you talking about ?

Fine, get a cheap one if you want but if you do that then you waive the right to complain when something goes wrong since the 360 PSU isn't the most stable device out there anyway, so much in fact that minor brownouts have been known to kill them.

That one you have linked to can be bought from China very cheaply, its powerful enough but it has no surge protection, you'll need a heavy duty one for that.
#12
UK 360 power supplies will work fine on a US/JAP console.

ALL 360 consoles run on 12v, the only difference is that US power supplies drop 120v down to 12v and UK power suppies drop 240v down to 12v.

You should be able to pick up a 360 psu for about £30 on a certain auction website.
#13
I can't confirm that, but he's not the only person to say it will work, I would go for that as opposed to a stepdown, but read around on xbox scene first.
banned#14
i've also heard that JAP consoles are set to english straight out the box
#15
No they're not.

You do not know more about "these things" than I, I'm afraid.

No, I HAVE a Japanese 360, Live accounts have nothing to do with it since when you sign up for one, you can state the language and country you come from. Yes, Japanese Blue Dragon is in Japanese, however the Asian (Eng lang) version is in English, I own both of those two.

I'm sick of you because you're fracking stupid and have no idea what you're going on about. What difference does coming from a Korean family make? None, you idiot.

What UTTER rubbish. Stepdown converter for a 360? £40 at the most from Maplins. OR, just get a UK power supply! £25 no problem.

No, "mate", you don't. UK power supplies work fine and has been confirmed by thousands, I use UK power supplies on my UK, US and Japanese 360s.

They're not set to Japanese either.

Jesus - I only asked a simple question and look whats happened :) - I already own a UK 360 so if a normal PSU works, then I won't need to buy that!

By the sounds of it - I just need an arcade console? Do the other wires work from a UK xbox (component?).

And please -do not fight gents - I only asked a question and still haven't recieved an answer :o)
#18
Hey man,

If you have the leads, I'm willing to sell my Japanese console, I have a lot of games with it though and really want to shift it with that. Definitely works with a UK PSU, used it yesterday!

If you are interested, it'd be £320 with 20 games (I have more than twenty, you can pick the ones you want) for the bare console (no leads or anything) and twenty games delivered.

Oh yeah! All the wires work too, the wireless adapter, ethernet lead, component, VGA, SCART etc. :)

Listen, I also own a Japanese console and I repair and upgrade this things semi-professionally, Japanese consoles are set to Japanese language unless you manually change the locale (which is what you did).

If you choose to use a cheap **** stepdown with an Xbox 360 then you do so with your own risk and I didn't say you couldn't use a UK PSU with one, I said I had never done it.

I have lived in Asia before and have worked in game/toy importing, I also now work for an ISP where I manage the online games department and I repair consoles which ********s like you have managed to break as a sideline semi-professionally, you need to shut it, as previous threads showed you known nothing about the PS3 and you don't seem to know all that much about the 360 either.

Excuse me? Where have I ever been wrong?

I own a Japanese console too, and you're wrong. They are not set to Japanese out of the box so stop with the misinformation.

No, £40 isn't cheap for a stepdown and they work fine, but then, why would you when you can just use a UK power supply? All that bull you just posted and you didn't know a UK power supply works just fine! :w00t:

So what? You lived in Asia, you know that I haven't? Not that I have of course, but why does that even matter? I've never broken a console before, so hey, be quiet before running your mouth with the personal insults. Owning six (yes, it's a lot..) 360s means I know a lot about them, in all the resolutions, regions and whatnot.
#21
Really, so how would you change the region control specification on a 360 console then ?

Sorry to everybody else but he has really annoyed me now and I want to prove a point.
#22
A region whatsit? You mean the language? When you boot up ANY 360 console, the Initial Setup runs (try running it now if you like, far right blade on the dashboard). It allows you to choose the language before you've even started, there is no 'set' language when you turn it on.

Sorry that you're wrong.
#23
No I'm not, I asked how you change the console's region allocation ie region 1,2,3,4,5.

Basically, you don't know the answer.
#24
Seriously, shut up all of you, it doesn't matter! Jobysp asked where you can get one, not if it needs a £100 transformer or whether Spark lives in Asia, sort it!

"funny squiggles", no, not true as you get to choose the language.

No point did you mention changing the region (of what, the DVDs? No, that's not possible. Japanese 360s, however, are region two and play UK DVDs).

So again, how am I a liar? Since the only one here seems to be you.

Ohhh, I see what you've tried to do here. You brought up another unrelated point to try and catch me out, deliberately trying to confuse me with your pathetic 'point-scoring'.

You can't change the region on a 360, DVD or otherwise. Modified (firmware) 360s only let you play games (copied or otherwise) from the region of the console (or region free ones, of course). DVDs are the same, the region cannot be altered.
#27
You're wrong and clearly you know less than I do, and there's my point. Sorry, I don't usually give a toss about these things and I'm glad to help anyone out as most of my posts on this forum suggest, but this muppet has really wound me up.

Incidentally, the regional allocation on a 360 is controlled by one hexidecimal value in the CPU kernel and can be changed by downgrading the kernel, extracting the CPU key and altering said value thus effectively making a PAL console Japanese, so although difficult it certainly is far from impossible.
#28
...what are you on about? HOW am I wrong? All you've said is that I'm wrong and offered no reasoning behind it, bringing up silly points about regions on a 360 to try and score points against me, you're pathetic.

All the stuff I've said is true, you just can't get over it. Where have I been wrong about stuff regarding the PS3? Come on, tell me! I'm waiting..

Of course, not to mention that YOU were wrong about the language on 360 consoles, none of them are set, you set it in the initial set-up. But don't let that stop you trolling and spreading incorrect information.
#29
What language is the default set on the 360 before you specify locale ?

(And if you say English then you're a ****ing liar)
#30
As polite as ever, I'll check now, just for you.
#31
And guess what? I was right.
#32
Feel free, I don't mean to be impolite with you and I have never had cross words with anybody on this forum before, but I find you infuriating.
#33
Adamo
And guess what? I was right - it lets you select the language on the FIRST SCREEN. And a picture, to sum up this thread for you.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v364/adamoo/Photo141.jpg

Oh my god, I can't believe you took that.

You realise it did that because the machine had already been used and the default locale had been changed though don't you.
#34
The locale comes up AFTER that screen. That's the first screen you always see when you turn on a fresh 360, stop trying to ween your way out of it.
Spark

I'm not trying to worm my way out of it, I know I'm right.

This is best either closed now though or left open for somebody to offer the OP what they asked for in the first place, it's kind of my fault in some ways for taking the topic off course.

No, because you're a *****.

End of discussion.

Hahaha, thanks for proving my point.

I didn't.

End of discussion, ie leave it now.
#39
Erm, no?

Well don't then, I don't give a toss.
