Big coincidence - I've just been putting Android on mine today. Have managed to get the market working and its great! How come you are getting rid of it?
#4
Oooooohhhhh,

Can you post a link to that please?
How easy was it?

ONLY reason I'm looking to let it go is to find some funds for a (gulp) iPad :(
#5
What can you do with it?? Not sure what's the use of it
#6
It's a tablet pc with a mobile phone in it basically.

Hi, just to clarify - this ISN'T a mobile phone.

It's this....

Or a tablet pc that runs ubuntu, android or a few other OSs.

I bought one of these for £50 about a year or more ago. Don't think I have looked at it since it came out of the box. Maybe I should stick it on here?
#12
Before you do that you should definitely try ubuntu on it first.

It turns a quirky toy into something quite fun indeed.

Just to give an idea of the power in this thing - it has a 1.3GHz Atom processor! Mine has been adopted by my 4 year old. She streams her Disney films from our NAS, watches cBeebies (iPlayer live and catchup) and plays some of the flash games. She can use it to tell me the days weather forecast too.

Can you point me in the direction of an idiot-friendly guide?

Hi

When booting a custom OS it is done via an image on a USB key. Mounting the image onto a key is simples as is finding suitable OSs. I'm happy to include one memory key with the sale, but I'd put your choice of OS on it. Android looks lots of fun - and despite information elsewhere on the net - I'm having no issues with the wireless.

£50 is a good offer, again thankyou. I will have a think about that, £55 however would secure it tho. I could burn the other OS onto a disc if you wish?

Sometimes on these sites there's just too much info for a newb to absorb!

Yeah but the stickies at the top of the software forums give VERY simple instructions on the installations and downloads.

Since putting this up for sale I've tried...

Android (seems very good)
Jolicloud (very flaky but apparently it's a new venture)
Ubuntu maverick (this seems like the way forward to me - the image includes xbmc)
Ubuntu natty (crashed and corrupted the memory stick so went back to maverick)

So, it's android or ubuntu maverick.

That said, the stock software is very good once pimped, and that is a very simple hack!

Hi

Thankyou for the offer but I'm not in need of a phone, thanks anyways tho!
#32
Just downloaded the Ubuntu Natty image. Will try tomorrow and hope it's more stable than the version you tried.

Hi

I tried it again, it was much better the second time :)

I couldn't tell much difference between this and maverick tho.

Yes it is :)

Bump :)

Installed Ubuntu Natty but it ain't great. The keyboard is awful, I cannot connect to my router, lots of things don't fit on the screen, I cannot select certain things on the homepage (even after calibrating the screen for the 100th time!). Also, I have realised that there is no such thing as an 'idiot's guide' when it comes to the Joggler.

Hopefully, there will be some more useable Android OS' coming out soon?!
#39
I'm currently satisfied with the pimped ip stock software :)
