Is this totally unlimited, i.e can you use it as a modem? I have the £7.50 unlimited bolt on on my nokia N95 8GB with 02.....but they have slapped me on the wrist for using it as a modem! Whats the fair use policy in the T&C?
#4
not totaly sure if you can use it as a modem, i know someone else on here did sell the same sim recently, if you find that thread it may help.

I will post pics in the morning, just need to sort out some pics etc.

I have brought and sold stuff on avforums in the past, but i don't use ebay.

cheers..

Link to what........I DID SAY FROM AN O2 SHOP !!!!!
#9
So I Just Go Into An 02 Shop And Ask For The Sim Thats Only 10 Quid That Gives Me Free Internet Access For 12 Months ?
#10
Yep, that's exactly what I done today......
#11
ill still giv u £10
#12
oh sorry i did'nt know you could buy them for £10 in the shops.

i might as well withdraw the sale then in that case.

thanks for letting me know.
#13
I would bung it on ebay mate one guy got £75 for one.
#14
Are you sure this £10 thing is correct? Haven't heard about it anywhere.

How long will it be around do you think? After xmas i might pick one up if i decide to get an E61/e61i/E70.

Killer deal, especially if fully unlimited unlike the £7.50/m "unlimited" 200mb package.

Is it definitely unlimited Jackthelad?

Rep for an answer.

Thanks in advance,

Matt

I don't think it's unlimited,

http://news.zdnet.co.uk/communications/0,1000000085,39482913,00.htm

That is where the sim is from right?

Wonder if o2 will add this to a current sim/contract for a one-off payment of a tenner.
#16
It's pretty much unlimited for the average user who uses email, web browsing etc on their mobile - if your going to use abnormally then you should expect the consequences of extra charges!!

I sold mine on eBay and it went for approx £37 - far better to put it on there mate :)
#17
Just go into an o2 shop, ask for a 3g iphone simcard, activate it with itunes, ring up customer services and they will add the 12 months bolt on !

And the £10 you spend for the sim card is used at credit anyway, so it's basically free !
#18
If it IS the iphone one then i think it is unlimited, as it is when on contract, as Youtube etc. takes up a lot.

I use 2.5gb-3gb a month at home i think, but that is after school only, and not on wednesday's (at dads) and im only home 2 weekends a month (dads the other two) I wonder if it is 200mb, whether i would bust it using it when im meant to be in bed (at not using the router) and for a few hours a day on the bus, at lunch etc. and get warned, then next time charged... What do you think?

Can you uninstall itunes afterwards and it will still work? Or could i register it on my sisters itunes? One thing holding me back from the iphone other than cost is the fact that i need itunes, just like you do with this sim, even if i dont want to sync music, films etc.

Thanks In Advance,

Matt

Wait, does activating it using itunes not tie you in to a contract? This sounds great if it actually works. Or is this the pay as you go sim card? Plus, don't you need an iphone to activate the sim, or can it just be done by typing in the number on the back of the card? Sorry for all the questions, but this sounds too good to be true.

Just tell o2 customer services you are activating the payg iphone 3g sim card on your phone and the internet isn't working....they will add the payg 12 months bolt on for you :)
#25
Can you confirm this is PAYG... Is the internet bolt on only valid if you top-up £10.00 per month ??
Thanks

I found on the o2 site that you can get the 200mb bolt on for 7.50 a month, and the iphone one for 10, unlimited (well, fair usage policy is much better):

1. The O2 Web & Wi-Fi Bolt On is available to all new & existing Pay & Go customers with a compatible handset.
2. Use of the O2 Web & Wi-Fi Bolt On is subject to an excessive usage policy as explained in point 3 below.
3. The O2 Web and Wi-Fi Bolt On allows you unlimited use of O2 UK's Edge, GPRS, 3G and HSDPA networks, The Cloud's UK Wireless LAN network and the BT Openzone UK Wireless LAN network, for personal internet use and email on your iPhone only. All usage must be for your private, personal and non-commercial purposes.
You may not use your SIM Card in any other device or use your SIM Card or iPhone to allow the continuous streaming of any audio / video content, enable P2P or file sharing or use them in such a way that adversely impacts the service to other O2 customers. If O2 reasonably suspect you are not acting in accordance with this policy O2 reserves the right to impose further charges or disconnect your tariff at any time, having attempted to contact you first.
4. To OPT IN to the O2 Web & Wi-Fi Bolt On send a free text message containing the keyword "WWW" to 21300 or call free on 2425 from your O2 mobile
5. One month minimum term applies. To OPT OUT send a free text message containing the keyword "WWWOFF" to 21300 at least 48 hours before the next payment is due or alternatively call free on 2425 from your O2 mobile.
6. Benefits of your O2 Web & Wi-Fi Bolt On apply to use in the UK only. A maximum of one O2 Web & Wi-Fi Bolt On can be added to your mobile at any one time.
7. O2 Web & Wi-Fi Bolt Ons apply to GPRS WAP and/or i-mode but not Circuit Switched WAP. You must have a GPRS handset and your SIM must be GPRS enabled in order to use the O2 Web Bolt On.
8. You must have a compatible handset in order to use O2 Wi-Fi access
9. Please note the O2 Web & Wi-Fi Bolt On cannot be used in conjunction with the WAP 500, Browse & Download, O2 web or O2 Active Browsing Bolt Ons. If you opt into the O2 Web and Wi-Fi Bolt On we will automatically opt you out these incompatible Bolt On and the change will take effect at your next anniversary date
10. You must have a minimum of 17 pence on your handset balance in order to make a GPRS connection in the UK.
11. If you are on a tariff with 1mb of free browsing each month, the 1mb allowance will be used first.
12. General Bolt On Terms & Conditions apply. See www.o2.co.uk/terms for details.

I wonder if you could use this bolt-on in any phone? They say iphones only, will it physically not work (activation/serial no's etc?) or if they find out (which i doubt they will) they will end your package? Is that the same with the £10 sim? When you activate do you have to use an iphone serial number or something?

Sounds like this deal:

Twelve Months of included O2 Web and Wifi Bolt On for new iPhone 3G Pay & Go customers

1. This offer is only applicable to new and upgrading customers who purchase an iPhone 3G on Pay & Go.
2. Customers who purchase an iPhone 3G on Pay & Go must be using the dedicated iPhone SIM provided at the time of purchase in order to receive the twelve months of included O2 Web and Wifi Bolt On.
3. The O2 Web and Wifi Bolt On will be active within 24 hours of the customer first topping up their dedicated iPhone SIM. Prior to such activation, data usage may incur additional charges and is not recommended.
4. The twelve months of inclusive O2 Web and Wifi Bolt On only applies if the customer continues to use their dedicated iPhone SIM in the iPhone. If O2 reasonably suspects that the customer has removed the dedicated iPhone SIM from the iPhone and is using it in an alternative device or are not acting in accordance with the terms of this promotion, O2 reserves the right to impose further charges or disconnect the O2 Web and Wifi Bolt On at any time, having attempted to contact the customer first.
5. At the end of the twelve month inclusive period the customer will automatically start to be charged £10 per month for the O2 Web and Wifi Bolt On. We will send the customer a text communication before the end of the twelve month inclusive period to inform them that their inclusive O2 Web and Wifi Bolt On is coming to an end and give them advice on how to opt out if required.
6. Standard O2 Web and Wifi Bolt On terms apply. See www.o2.co.uk/terms for details.

So you walk into an o2 store and say you have lost your PAYG iphone sim card, and want to buy another? Come home, activate with someones itunes (using serial numbers? Iphone?) and then call CS and tell them 3g isnt working on your iphone PAYG?

Thanks in advance,

Matt

I don't have an iPhone, just walked in to the shop and asked for an iPhone sim card. Got one for free.
Didn't use itunes, just called CS and asked thm to activate it. Took about 1 minute.

Checking the O2 account on line I can see I have the free Web and Wifi BoltOn. :) Result and cost me nothing !!
#32
Sweet.

I'm gonna pick one up now i think, before its gone/too late. Yeah i wont use it until the new year, but its free, and i will still get about 9 months, which would be £67.50 - £90... Then if i can still get one at the end of next year for £0 - £10, i will again.

Hope its unlimited, because i would use it alot, and even hook it up to my laptop for browsing (no p2p/torrents) in bed when mum sees the WLAN light on the router flashing :p

Good job about itunes, i hate it.

Any chance of getting the 12 months free bolt on for a tenner on my o2 simplicity? Considering an iPhone upgrade but not sure how the simplicity chip would do in it with regards to internet usage?

Any help is appreciated, sorry for thread hijacking.

On the simplicity tariff the 2 web related bolt-ons are 'unlimited' web £7.50 p/m or 'unlimited' blackberry (for enabled phones) £10.00

The £7.50 PAYG bolt on is not "unlimited" as they call it. 200mb/m

200mb of data on a phone is still a massive amount of usage, most would struggle to get anywhere near to the limit.

Really?

I use about 2.5-4gb at home per month, using the internet about 20 days a month, 4pm-10pm. On my phone i would use the internet for about 2 hours a day, as i do at home, so not just email. A bit of youtube/metacafe in the evening.

I did find a few usage calcs on a few providers sites, cant find them now. 3's site sucks.

Anyway, i will get the sim this weekend if it is free, and use it in January. If it is £10 i will get one in Jan if its not too late, and even if it is £10, and only the 200mb package, its still a bargain for less than 25p a week, i will just have to try it one month and see when i get the text, then maybe next month use it more sparingly.

You'll find either plan will be plenty for phone data usage. Once you start using it you'll see how I mean about the data figures. If I hammer the phone on the internet all month i've still not managed to use more than 150mb.

Just got an o2 sim in the Matterbox freebie deal that came up. The sticker on the sim card card says "-O2 unlimited prepay 3g (4dm) USIM (EXT) must be activated by sept 2009"

Do you think this sim when activated will have the 12months 3G?

Got my E61 now (well, will have on the 25th!) so I want 3g bad!

If worst comes to the worst i'll just buy the £10 sim and give it a shot.

Matt
