Recently sold my 561 3.6 on ebay for £41 including delivery. When I was looking round to see what sort of price I could get I never saw any of the p4 3.6 chips go for much over £40. Where did you get the £70+ figure from?

Any Core 2 Duo is better than an old P4 and the new Celerons are rebadged Core 2 Duos with less cache and so would still be faster than an old Pentium 4.
But worth it if your motherboard is limited to single core pentiums.

It's not 'stupid' - a Core 2 Duo processor has two genuine cores unlike the single core of the processor you're selling and a completely different microarchitecture which means they are far faster clock for clock. However if someone has a 915/925 based chipset which doesn't support dual core you may find a buyer.

Rep for John. You sum up my thoughts completely.

Sorry to burst your bubble guys but even by intels outlandish claims they are only "up to 30%" faster (c2d's that is)
and they were talking about the 1066 bus ones not the 800, so this chip will outperform any c2d on a 800 mhz bus up to nearly 3ghz, in single tasking such as games etc.
