because this is a specialised unit, I don't expect much interest here and ebay will be better I think.

Of course I will give some serious pictures etc to anyone interested. Please don't compare this to a dell :giggle:

Hi,

I note that the image is not one of your own. Do you have any photos of the actual item for sale?

Also, please could you describe what the issue seems to be with the touchpad?

Finally, I note from the URL below that there is a standard 3 year Return To Base warranty.

When & where was the Toughbook purchased?
Do you have a proof of purchase to include with your sale (in case of a warranty claim)?

Thanks for your time/trouble with the photos, and clarification.

BFN,

fp.

Yes, certainly; I would endeavour to remain as open as possible.

Why do you feel the need to go to "PM" now?

sorry, just felt it easier to answer your questions via pm!

See here also:

The Toughbook is approximately two years old. Unfortunately, I have no warranty with the unit. It was bought at auction from a liquidation of a local company, although they remained un-named. I believe it to be an oil company. The Toughbook is in good condition, with three slight problems to mention:

1) The pen is missing. There is usually a pen to be used for the touchscreen. This is kept in the lower left of the screen, but was missing when I purchased.

2) There is a slight blemish on the bottom left of the screen. I would say this is below the touchscreen layer, and is just a dark area, a circle with a diameter of 2mm perhaps! Really small but worth mentioning (especially to someone who likes quality in his purchases!) This area is still completely working with regards to touchscreen.

3) The touchpad. I believe this to be a software issue, it hasn't happended in the last few months of use, but sometimes with a complete shutdown, left off for a week then switched on, the pointer goes a bit mad. This resolves after a restart? It's got me puzzled, I can only think it's a software issue.

Just realised as I was taking photos, there is a slight dent on the front (outer lid) of the case, this is a a series of small dents, again less than 1mm in size across the titanium. Although the laptop is near indestructable, it can be dented a fraction!

these are mental, made of like pure metal, apparently you can drop them from a 4 story building and they'll still work.

But, they are really small, the keys are about 1/4 size of normal, and the screen is matchbox size. This isn't a personal pc, this really is work only my dad hates them. sorry but i don't want the buyer to be disappointed

I'm sure Fan Pages is well aware of these devices. I appreciate your input though. I have seen one be run over by a tank and dunked in water on the gadget show!

thanks Ray.

On that note, delivery is available, as is collection in Aberdeen. I am more than reputable!

Hi,

I do appreciate your very comprehensive reply & offer of photos, but it sounds like this is not the model for me. I was looking for something for my "weapon of mass destruction" 5 year old as a Christmas present, but given the list of issues, I think I'll not waste your time & suggest that an auction listing may be your best bet.

Looking at present, on one particular auction site, I can see that the typical price is nearly £1300 for better examples, so I would expect you to reach your expected price.

Good luck & thanks again.

Thanks for the thought, Franco. The rugged exterior & ability to withstand my 5 year old's general usage was the paramount concern. He tends to take keys off laptop keyboards & something a little more robust would have been ideal, but as I mentioned above, perhaps not this particular item.

Bump...
#19
they done a test on these on the gadget show last year, they blew it up, submerged it in water and dropped it from a big height and thing still worked! great piece of equipment, good luck with sale :)
#20
cheers micky,

They are awesome. This one (i'm using it now) is in good condition with a few minor scratches and dents. It's worth a few quid but no takers on here so far
#21
I can vouch for these, I use one at work (not touch screen and it's a CF29) as of yet I have been unable to break it (and it's been used as a hammer on various occasions when it was closer than a proper hammer), but it's a good solid bit of kit.
#22
the touch screen is amazing, and rotates 360 degrees. the lid has a solid metal clip to keep it secure and a carrying strap
#23
Monthly bump...
#24
yearly bump almost!
#25
is it still worth £600 pounds lol
#26
probably not!! Just realised how many bumps there are on this, so going to get it closed!!
