PlayTV for Playstation 3, mint condition £45.00

I'm selling a PlayTV set, fully boxed with everything it came with. It's eight months old but works perfectly and no cosmetic damage (it's just been sitting by my PS3 all this time) so it's virtually as-new. Have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayTV to see exactly what it can do, but here's a summary:

- Give you Freeview channels through your standard ariels (check coverage in your area and Teletext has a clever thing to see if your ariel is able to handle Freeview, most are)
- Pause live TV
- Record TV (even when playing a game, watching another channel, or when you're not using the TV at all - it will turn the PS3 on / off as required for the scheduled recording)
- Access a 7 day digital program guide and schedule reminders / recordings there
- Export recordings so that you can watch them again, with no DRM

Basically, it's pretty awesome, and well worth getting if you have a PS3 and don't want to shell out for Sky+.

---

I am relatively rare poster on HUKD, though I do keep an eye out, and I've had this account for quite a while now I also have 200+ feedback on eBay and lots on Amazon too. See shipping / payment for more reasons to be confident.

Shipping/Payment:
I'm happy to take payment by PayPal, where you can get Buyer Protection. Postage will be charged at cost price, packaging will be free. You can choose the postal service, provided it includes signature on delivery.

Better yet, as I'm based in London, I'd be happy to meet at any mainline train terminus or other mutually-agreeable location. You can test and examine the item to your content and pay if you're happy.

NOTE ABOUT PRICE (following feedback from comments, below). £45 is around what this seems to go for on eBay, which is how I go to it. It's £20 less than RRP and the Argos £40 offer seems to be out of stock for delivery + most branches. That all said, reasonable offers will be entertained.

It's not over RRP (which I think is £64.99) but it is more expensive than it can be bought for new in Argos :)

Woah... first, this has been mine since I got my PS3 and is not listed for profiteering at all. In any case, the price is based on current eBay selling prices, and it's certainly not above RRP which is over £60.

The Argos deal is sold out, and I didn't buy it there to make a £5 profit here

Would this work if the cable that usually goes in the virgin box got plugged in?
We don´t have a normal aerial cable in the living room, only the one from the virgin box....

I doubt it would, but I've never tried. You can get (or might already have) a cheap indoor ariel - they generally come with signal boosters I think. Try Maplin?

It should work, as the connections are different you will need a convertor plug though. I have the cable from virgin going into a TV in my bedroom for a load of freeview channels and it works great, this is because the ariel lead from virgin is massive so works as a massive ariel

I am very sure I am using it to do what I am lol

If you have the cable coming out the wall it has a very thin male adaptor which is not the same as the phater one that goes in the TV. So there are a couple of ways to do this the easier way is to buy the normal cable connector from Wilkingsons and then cut the end off the cable and just put the new end on.
The way I did it was I bought this then buy some airel cable and the adaptor from wilkos (you can buy the cable to lenght)

Then plug the thing i bought from deal extreme into the cable out the virgin socket, then put one of the connections from dealextreme pack onto the cable bought from wilkingsons and the airel connection bought from wilkingsons on the other end, Then plug it into your TV and the connection from deal extreme.

The reason I did it this way is because I have virgin in the living room, and internet from virgin, so the dealextreme item is a splitter that works perfectly for Virgin, so I have a Splitter from Virgin with 2 holes 1 goes to internet, and one goes to the splitter I bought and then one goes to the Virgin box and 1 goes to my TV upstairs, and I have a spare one, you can get splitters with 5 outputs on from dealextreme if you want, it cost about £2.50 for splitter, and the wwilkos connections is about a £1 and the cable about £3 i think i needed about 6-7 meters I think, it was done about 18 months ago lol

Hope this helps. I tried to find a link for the connection and cable but could not find it on wilkinsons site, i know they do it still thoguh as I went in there a week ago and its not the biggest shop :)

If you need any other help with it just ask :), I could take pics of the items i bought if you want as i did not use them all, as I have not bothered putting an airel in the other bedroom yet lol
The reception doing this BTW is very good, and is not exactly the same as freeview, you do not get radio stations and you get other virgin channels and lose some freeview channels, but well worth it for a good airel, one thing i have never tried with it yet though is plugging it into a freeview box, i might try later lol

Ohhh nice reply. Thanks so much :-) (gave you some rep)
Can I get back to you if I have any questions once we have one of these?

It wont work with the Virgin cable plugged in. It needs to be a standard aerial that gets its freeview channel lineup from the transmitter. By connecting a Virgin cable direct to a TV you get some free to air freeview channels but that is not compatible with a freeview box.

The channels received from the Virgin cable will also not be there for much longer as the are analogue, not digital and will be removed shortly.

Absolutely not. These go for well over £40 on eBay. Is it even worth making such a derisory offer?
#13
best offer youve had, so yes! would have negotiated, but you can go swivel now

Mods - item no longer available (I put this in the thread when first listed on eBay due to lack of offers here, but realise you're not going to see it there!)

If you actually read the post you quoted, you'll see that I specifically said that I added 'no longer available' to the original post when I listed the item on eBay, but have repeated that since mods clearly didn't notice.

I mean, come on. It's just a matter of reading and understanding English right?

Indeed it is. Reported OP to the moderators. You are not allowed to list item on HUKD that is also listed anywhere else such as ebay, gumtree, av forums etc.

This is exactly what i'm reading. Can you not understand that you have broken the rules?

If you dont want to read the rules then I'll give you a snippet of what you've done.

(3) All sales MUST be listed and completed fully on the HUKD FS/FT forum. All negotiations must be done within the thread until a sale is agreed by both parties. Contact details must NOT be added to FS/T forum threads. NO eBay, auction, classified or external links to an item listed elsewhere. You must NOT list your items for sale or trade here if they're listed elsewhere, this also applies where you have more than one of the same item being offered and includes 'Request' or 'Wanted' threads.

Fine, fair play, my bad. But that's different a rule (and presumably a less serious one).

Doesn't justify the idiotic comments above though.

nope, listing something for sale elsewhere without having this thread locked properly is about as bad as it gets on here

Um

"Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts."

isn't hugely helpful though. It wasn't like anybody was going to offer when it said 'item no longer available' for crying out loud.

Oh well, as long as y'all keep posting deals for me, say what you like :P

Idiotic? No my friend it's the truth and the fact of what you've done. And no all rules on this site are serious and and can lead to suspensions. It's to benefit anyone on here from getting scammed and keeping things fair. Argue all you like.

IT WAS NOT ON EBAY UNTIL I SAID NOT AVAILABLE HERE.

Is that really that hard to understand. This is wasting my time now. I didn't realise I had to specifically report the thread, which was my mistake. But the rest of you are being really pathetic. I'm not going to bother replying to any more posts here. If a mod gets in touch, I'll communicate with them directly.

Yes it was as it just sold on Ebay for £42. Are you telling me the second you listed it the second it sold? Very unlikely remember?
