Just to note to any potential buyers that the PS2 backwards compatability is not region free, meaning you can only play ps2 Japanese games on it. Also any blu rays/ dvds that you want to play on the machine will also have to be from the japanese region.

Hope that helps any potential buyers

I suppose you'd have to buy a new blu-ray drive for repairs, Its in great condition & to be honest its hardly had any use at all, just sat on a desk kept dust free.. you'll have no probs at all.
#14
Forgot to mention the jap 20gb console does NOT HAVE BUILT IN WIFI.
#15

The 20Gb Japanese PS3 console was phased out around January/February 2008.

Therefore, it would be out of the 12 month warranty period even if Sony did offer to fix an imported console (that I doubt).

You could try asking the sales support team at ContinuousPlay.co.uk if they cover Japanese machines.

BFN,

they don't cover imported consoles any repair would be by your own hands or one of the many places that do a repair service such as gt electronics

tbh i have a 20gb bought around release date and it's still going strong jap stuff for it's home market tends to be from japanese factorys and is sometimes better quality as the original batch of psp's had better screens
then the rest of the world gets the junk made in china :)

Indeed, Thin Film Transistor [TFT] Liquid Crystal Display [LCD] screen components made by Sharp were initially used in the original PSP's sold in Japan (late 2004 to mid-2005), as opposed to lesser-quality Samsung screens used elsewhere in the world.

I have a European Release Day (23 March 2007) 60Gb PS3 console. It wasn't made in Japan.

The problem with imported consoles is you do not know what has happened to them in transit. They may well have been stuck in a courier's warehouse for days in sub-optimal temperatures.

Was this Japanese console imported privately (carrying through customs by hand), do you know, terrasaw?

Not true (for the most part). It plays Region A Blu-rays, which includes the whole of America. It also plays Region 2 DVDs, that includes the UK and Europe, albeit in NTSC coding, Whether that means UK films will work I'm unsure, but it may work with them.

I imported one of these when they were first released in Japan. Still going strong, and has never crashed on me. It does only play Jap PsII games, but you can get asian versions that have english. For example, I have God of War & God of War II imported from playasia, and they look terrific upscaled! Even better than on a PS2 using component! It has full PS2 hardware so no emulation :)

It was great being able to get cheep Blu-Rays from the states, but since the pound collapsed...

These do sell in Japan for more than the cost of a new console.

Looks like a fair price, Id buy it if I didn't allready have one :D
