#15
Guys it is really worth it for £400 even if Cex have it for £375.

Correct. The OP needs to bundle some cheap tat with a high RRP to be within the rules.

I would prefer an Argos receipt with 10 months warranty than a PS3 that may be more than a year old with 12 months warranty. :)

Cheers for pointing that out. Unbelievable hassle involved with taking anything faulty back to CEX whereas Argos give an instnat exchange or refund. If its such a great deal on CEX as everyone is so keen to point out, then why aren't you all buying them up and selling them on ebay for £450+ rather than wasting your time slagging off my price! Deal still stands at £400 which is not unreasonable IMHO. its as new, fully boxed with all accessories and includes FOM:Resistance. Goes on Ebay in a few days. Cheers.

It's a brave person that corrects me without having any knowledge of what they speak. :)

The RRP was £425, The RRP was dropped to £349 because of it being discontinued and the release of the 40gb model.

So to sum up, the RRP is £349
#24
oh ok i stand corrected :)
#25
Excuse my ignorance but, why are these going back up in price for the 60gb model?

If the RRP was £349 and the game with it has RRP of £39.99 does that mean that the OP can only sell on this forum at £388.99?

They are climbing in price because they have been discontinued and the replacement (40gb) does not play PS2 games.

The RRP of £349 usually includes at least 1 game, mine came with 2 for that price.

In my opinion the OP could sell it for RRP of £349 + RRP of the game, it's a grey area.

10 months old is far worse than one that is less than two months old and only used twice. it is 'As new' and fully boxed.

I must be feeling brave... Actually the RRP of the 60GB UK version is £425 (I know this to be a fact as that's what I shelled out for the bloody thing on release day) retailers then chose to discount the price and throw in some free games about 6 weeks later but this wouldn't and didn't affect the recommended retail price (set by the manufacturer) of £425.00 and as someone has already pointed out further up - You'll be hard pressed to find a UK one that's older than 10 months.

You could always google "ps3 rrp" if you still don't believe me...
#30
I don't get why people would pay an extra 100 quid or so just for 20GB.

Hmm - cos it has 2 extra usb slots, memord card readers, plays ps1 & ps2 games! imagine having all the singstar collection which wont play on the 40gb cheapo machine.
#32
RRP at launch was £425
it is now reduced to £349 bundled together with 2 games and an extra controller
but you can hardly find 60Gb version in stock anywhere hence the price on ebay.
#33
First of all the UK 60GB PS3 is not truly backwards compatible as it uses software emulation and so does not play all ps2 games - in fact from what I have read it plays about 1 in 5.
Secondly, which person made up the rule that you can't list things for sale at the price the seller wants i.e that they can't be above a certain price? Surely, it is up to the potential buyers to decide whether that price makes sense to them and not the place of Hotukdeals to state this. If a seller can't get something sold at that price then they can leave it unsold or drop their price - basic market forces.
#34
The UK model plays about half of the PAL games released in one form or another some with very serious glitches which renders the game unplayable but some are okay, there a list here. For the extra £100 you could probably buy a PS2 and Guitar Hero but I guess some people want to limit the amount of boxes under the TV.

Basic market forces do determine that the buyer does indeed set the price but the rule (I gather) was bought in to stop HUKD'ers getting fleeced for Wii's over the winter period, if the seller doesn't like it there's more than one auction site that will allow people to pay over RRP, however in this instance it's not relevant.

Most forums or groups have rules, the choice is really simple i'm afraid - Abide by them or go elsewhere...

Anyway - enough of the waffle and getting back to the point of this thread, PM me if interested. Cheers.

Isn't it against the rules to deal via PM? :p

Although I really wanted to prove you wrong, here is the evidence that confirms the rrp was reduced to £349.99. Although you were right, it would have been good to provide evidence or the source of your info:

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/a77268/60gb-playstation-3-is-to-be-axed.html

Although, I do believe the op's asking price is fair as the product is no longer availible new, and this is the average second hand price. The buyer has a choice, he is not forcing anyone to buy, and it is not as if he bought it just to sell on as it is used.

It would've been good(to provide evidence/source), but it's just something I know, I didn't do a search or anything like that.

I also believe that it was more important for anyone who disagreed to provide a source.
