Hi i have a brand new psp which is unopend and its in ts box it has not been touched inside at all...i believe it is a earlier psp so the firmware should be something like a 2.5 etc.....this means you can downgrade it and play homebrew on it.

this should have the 1.5 firmware on it !

(the one that people downgrade to so they can do stuff as in hack etc.)

I THINK......Because when i had one i wanted to downgrade to that
it might of been to be able to play games straight off your mem stick .
#7
Yes mate once you downgrade it to 1.5 you can play games off the memory stick duo.
#8
Ah my memory wasn't to bad for once, then this will have 1.5 firmware as standard which is GOOD

Good luck with the sale mate
#9
If you bought it at UK launch, it should have the 2.0 firmware I believe. But that is easily downgradeable.
#10
£65 if you send first

if its new and unopened, how do you know it even works bearing in mind it was probably manufactured 2-3 years ago and will be out of warranty of course?

"PSP-3000" is the Sony product code for the third series of the PlayStation Portable handheld console. It is also known as the "PSP Brite" or the "PSP Slim & Brite"..

"PSP-3003" is the reference for the model for sale in the UK.

* PSP3000 - Japan
* PSP3001 - USA
* PSP3002 - Australia
* PSP3003 - United Kingdom
* PSP3004 - Europe, Middle East, & Africa
* PSP3005 - Korea
* PSP3006 - Hong Kong
* PSP3007 - Taiwan
* PSP3008 - Russia
* PSP3009 - China

The same convention was used for the "PSP-2000" series (the "Slim & Lite" model), and the original "PSP-1000" series (the "Phat" or "Phat & Heavy" model).

To verify which region the original PSP-1000 series console was manufacturered for, you will need to open the battery compartment & check which reference is printed & also the Date Code...

* PSP1000 - Japan
* PSP1001 - USA
* PSP1002 - Australia
* PSP1003 - United Kingdom
* PSP1004 - Europe, Middle East, & Africa
* PSP1005 - Korea
* PSP1006 - Hong Kong
* PSP1007 - Taiwan
* PSP1008 - Russia
* PSP1009 - China

If you have a true Japanese 1.50/1.51/1.52 firmware model, it will have reference "PSP-1000" & a Date Code of "5A" Or "5B" (and Motherboard "TA-79").

The product box (if it is the original, and in this case sealed) will state the "PSP-1000" (or "PSP-1003", etc) reference but not the "Date Code".

BFN,

fp.

Summary:

"PSP-1003" is the reference for a UK "Phat & Heavy" PSP (the original release)
"PSP-2003" is a UK "Slim & Lite" PSP (the second issue)
"PSP-3003" is the current (UK) PSP model; the "Slim & Brite".

#32
Might be a daft question but how have you ended up with a PSP that is 2-3 years old but still unopened??

Also it doesn't matter if it is on 1.5 as ANY firmware can be hacked with a Pandora battery so makes no difference to the price.

The money you are asking for this you can get a (albeit a 2nd hand one) slim model which is superior anyway.

Phat PSP's go for around the £50 mark these days and so should be looking around that price really
#33
i bought two orignaly 1 that i kept and the other which i was suppose 2 get rid of but i didnt so im having a clear out now.

He doesn't... but given that the only way of finding out would be open the box (thus invalidating the fact that it's mint and unopened) he'd be a fool to do so...

It certainly doesn't affect the price of other unopened consoles out of HUKD... I'd be tempted to hang onto it.

I'dlower my offer £50

Don't see how it being unopened makes it any more expensive. It's gotta be opened to be used in the end so just taking it out to see if it actually powers on can only be a good thing and wouldn't lower it's value at all :)

Not if someone wants to keep it sealed, and collect it only to find in 20 years it has bits of rock in the box instead of a PSP

Do me a favour... go on ebay and type in the words, 'sealed' and then either Dreamcast, NES, SNES, N64, Megadrive or Master System. You'll see what difference sealed makes to the equation.

I have a sealed N64 console that i'm not going to open... it might not work, it might not even be inside for all I know but it's worth a damn sight more with those little nintendo stickers on it!

+1

I certainly wouldnt buy an electrical item that could have been manufactured 3-5 years ago without it being confirmed as full working order, as new.
