PSP "Phat & Heavy" (PSP-1003 PB) UK Piano Black with custom firmware £60.00

I have an original series "Phat & Heavy" ("PSP-1003 PB") UK Piano Black Sony PlayStation Portable [PSP] console that has had Dark_AleX's 2.71 SE-C Firmware installed, but presently has 3.30 OE-A upon it. I have no plans to upgrade further as I have just purchased a "Slim & Lite" model.

The Black casing is unmarked & the screen has no dead pixels or scratches. There is one scratch (around 1cm in length) on the silver 'ring' on the rear (upon the Universal Media Disc [UMD] door), as well as a few other (minor in comparison) marks. Please see the photos below.

Some eBay sellers (and other retailers too, I suspect) do sell metal discs with an adhesive side that you can fix to the rear of a PSP covering the ring on the door to give a 'brand new' look, if you wished the console to look 100% as new. Alternatively, search eBay for psp metal ring & youll turn up a complete replacement door for £1.99 (from seller: electronic-repairs)!

The issue with the metal ring would not detract from playing on the console (as it is obviously on the underside of the unit). I would say the console is at least in very good condition if not better. I have used it solely inside & within a smoke-free environment.

I have charged the battery fully & it is reporting 100% full capacity (initially with 8 hours & 49 minutes usage remaining, but this dropped to just under 6 hours within the photo images I took yesterday morning).

The internal clock is functioning as expected without any loss of time.

The 4-directional D-Pad buttons, analog 'nub' stick, shoulder Left & Right buttons, iconic PlayStation buttons [Triangle, Circle, Cross & Square], [Home], [-] Volume [+], Brightness control button, Sound ["Note"] button, and the [Select] & [Start] buttons all fine & function without issue.

The UMD drive door closes completely flush to the unit.

I can include a UK AC/DC charger & a soft/zipped 'Gamexpert' case for it (that you can have I as I have no use it). The case is not within the photos (below).

I could source a memory card, but to be honest, these are so cheap these days, you may as well buy a brand new one.

I would like to despatch by Royal Mail Special Delivery to protect the interests of myself & the buyer when the console is in transit.

I was looking for around £70 inclusive of Special Delivery (for the console, AC charger, and case). Payment by PayPal (using the as gift option to avoid fees, or £72.67 so the net result is £70 to me; see [ PayPal Fee Calculator ]), but please make me an offer if you wish.

Yes, it is Christmas, but serious offers only invited please. I do not need to sell the unit, but it is pointless me keeping it if it is not going to be used.

I can take additional photos upon request & drop into a subsequent comment in this thread.

Thanks for your interest.

(£62.32 via PayPal based on "PayPal Calculator" figures)

It is too late for despatch today, are you hoping for delivery on Monday? Or can you wait for despatch early next week?

Sorry for the delay... I was looking into "as gift" payments.

The use of this facility may limit your options with regards resolution of any issues relating to the payment, if I understand the text provided by PayPal correctly. Not that I anticipate any issues, but I thought I would make you aware of this if you did not know already.

As an alternate option, if you could send me the e-mail address associated with your PayPal account I could raise an invoice for "Goods (Non-Auction)" for a total of £60.00 & you will then receive an e-mail that will allow you to simply log-in to your account, click through the screens & make payment.

If you wish to pursue this, please confirm your £60 offer & then send me a "PM" (Private Message) with your name, delivery address (as registered with PayPal), telephone number, and PayPal account e-mail address & I'll direct the invoice to you.

PS. I will be away from HotUKDeals until at least 8:30pm this evening.

I will attend to any (other) offers upon my return.

Thank you.

BFN,

fp.

Yes.

In order to not miss any interested parties over this weekend I'll leave the listing open so that the console is still for sale until you make payment on Monday.

Have a good weekend.

Hi,

If the absence of cash offers (so far), yes, I would consider PS3 titles & Wii titles (I mentioned this in my current PS3 title "For Sale" thread, btw).

[Although, be warned I do have quite a few already!... PS3 titles & Wii titles that is, not threads! ;)]

Did you have anything in mind?

More interested in PS3 titles as I do not have an Xbox, and I never really have the time for DVDs.

Please let me know what you have available to exchange & I'll see if anything takes my fancy.

Thanks.

Thanks DD. I was annoyed when the ring was scratched as (obviously) up to that point it was in the same condition I bought it. I was also surprised to see the other small marks when I took the photos. My camera is obviously a much higher resolution that my eyes! :)

I think everybody is skint too. Not least because of current economic conditions, but also due to all the great bargains listed on a daily basis here.

I know I am! :)

Sorry, I have quite a few Buzz! buzzer sets already & a few of the PS2 Buzz! titles (Quizzes as well as the kids games).

Last month I saw the Special Edition boxed set for the PS3 mis-priced at £39.99 in HMV; all other products in the same branch were marked at £54.99. Got that ready to play on Boxing Day :)

I'm also trying to sell "Gran Turismo 5 Prologue" myself. Apologies again.

If you have any PS3 titles that offer "Remote Play", say, "Lair", or "PixelJunk Monsters", then it is great to play without the inconvenience of taking over the front room TV (or wherever). You could also store videos on the PS3 hard drive & watch them remotely.

Equally, you could hook-up wirelessly outside the home, select the titles to download from the PlayStation Store whilst you were out during Thursday & set them off downloading so that when you get home there are already on your PS3!

Depending on your Niece's age I would probably recommend the Nintendo DS (Lite) as this is more suitable for a younger audience. But with the convenience of the custom firmware option on the PSP you could find a wide selection of titles to "try before you buy" so you do not waste any money on buying titles that turn out to be unsuitable.

Please come back to me if you need to. Otherwise, thanks for your interest.

No need to apologise. Happy to listen to any offers & chat about gaming all night if you wish! :)

Did I answer your query about PS3< ->PSP connectivity above, or did you have a feature specifically you wished to use the handheld console for?

You can download PSP titles to the PS3 harddrive & then squirt them wirelessly, or via USB cable, or even by memory stick, for use on your PSP.

There are many demo titles available, and plenty more titles to purchase from the PlayStation Store.

Thank you.

Sorry, I hadn't seen details of your issue with Woolies.

Have you seen Zavvi is heading the same way?

"Zavvi creditors call in Ernst & Young as Woolworths fallout spreads wider"

The DSGi (Dixons) share price has plummeted in the last few weeks too.

:(

Hope you get what is due to you. Good luck.

Trying to watch "Stardust" (on Sky TV) at my 'end'. Not enjoying it very much. Ricky Gervais is playing himself as usual. Robert De Niro is over-actiing. Glad I didn't pay to see this at the cinema last Christmas (and that wasn't a cue for a song).

JJB as well? Blimey.

The typical High Street will be a ghost town soon :(

EDIT:
Re: Japanese Metallic Blue PSP ("Phat & Heavy")

I used to work with somebody who moved to Japan in 2006.

He organised the purchase on the day of release in Japan (21 December 2006) & he shipped it back to the UK for me. It was a late Christmas present for me that year. I don't use it to play on. I just sit & admire it from time to time when I update the (official) firmware. I'm keeping that updated as it should be! :)

I may be interested if I can set this up to play homebrew games? I have no idea about PSP firmware and the like but if you could point me to somewhere I could read up on it it'd be great.

I know there's prob a lot of sites that'll give you the info but if you knew of any good ones in particular?

Paddy: The OP has stated it has "custom firmware" this (aswell as a memory card and PSP) are all you need to play homebrew.
A good site for homebrew i.e games made by people from the scene and emulators (although NO Roms, or pirate material) is [url]www.dcemu.co.uk[/url] I used to be quite active there when the PSP was in it's infancy, I still check it most days for news about what is going on and stuff.
If you are after pirate games and Roms they will not be of any help to you though, very sternly frowned upon in those parts (as it should be on public forums!).

fp normally looks for things that are in very ( and I mean to the point of being pedantic) good condition, so this should be well treated, and if you want a cheap portable console with a huge and vast array of some of the finest homebrew going then a PSP Phat is probably your best bet.

Hi,

The firmware already installed on this unit is "custom" firmware that allows the playing of (so-called) 'homebrew' titles. Do you mean explicit 'homebrew' software that has been developed by a party with the intention of making available to the public in a non-commercial (almost "shareware" of "freeware") manner, or the generally accepted definition when related to PlayStation Portable machines where "homebrew" means the ability to play ISO files (using the International Organization for Standardization "ISO" 9660 standard file system format) & CSO files (compressed versions of the same content) taken from the images of the Universal Media Disc titles commercially available?

Either way, are you asking for links to sites where you can obtain these, or how "homebrew" &/or custom firmware operates on a PSP unit?

fp.

Cheers Mike rep added.

Cheers fanpages. I don't understand PSP firmware as never had one so just wanted to read up on it to make sure i don't brick the console.

Would you be able to post today?

Thanks Mike.

I am annoyed that this console has the issue with the ring as apart from that this console as good as the condition I originally bought it in.

As I mentioned in the opening comment, the ring can be hidden from view by an adhesive substitute ring layered on top of the original, or the door could be replaced completely. Other than this, the only reason I am selling it is because I have just purchased a "Slim & Lite" model & this is now surplus to my needs.
