Got some unexpected cash coming my way, so looking to upgrade me old dual core E4300 CPU to somethign a bit faster.

Does anyone have any Quad Cores (Q6600 / Q8400 / other) that are surplus to requirements. Fast Dual core also considered

Does it come with Heat Sink and Fan ?
Original Intel packaging ?
Balance of Warranty ?
Has it been overclocked at all ?
#3
Never overclocked, can supply an Intel HSF no problems.

Not sure about Warranty if I'm honest, was part of a prebuilt PC that was bought a couple of months ago, but was serious overkill for what it was doing! But this also means that it wont have any original packaging

Would you accept £65 including HSF as online used prive via certain auction sites seems to be around £80 ?

Is the HSF an official Intel rated for this TDP processor ?

Half up front and half on installation and proving OK ?

I'd go for £72.50 (meet in the middle), but I would want full payment. I have sold some high value items on here already, and can provide feedback on other sites if necessary)
#6
I'd need to think about it - its not the amount to send at issue - youve got a bit of feedback here - it is the risk of the CPU proving faulty and having no comback. I've been stung before with used CPUs bought online ...

and on the HSF question ...

Ahh sorry, I didnt see that question!

The HSF was not purchased with this CPU, but with a E5400.

how about £50 now, and the rest when confirmed working?
#8
Think the HSF would be unsuitable as the 5400 chip is a 65W part and the Q8400 is a 95W part...
Does the HSF have a part number itsefl ?

E97375-001

Looks like you are right, and it wont be suitable for the job. Not sure I have another around at the moment, so would be CPU only. Would save a few quid on postage, so £70 inc RMSD?

Thanks for all th info - think I will keep looking for now - would hope to get an 8400+HSF for that price given that they are not much more expensive on a certain auction site.

What would you be looking to pay? No point it being sat on my desk!

Just had a look around the office, and I do have a spare Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 rev2, which I could include, but I'd be looking for closer to asking

Interesting ...

Let me check the hight on the arctic cooler fan as I have a htpc case (thermaltake Bach) and am not sure I would have clearance for a freezer 7.

No problem. According to Ebuyer its 12.6cm tall

edit: Now withdrawn, sorry

Given that the stock one is 6cm high there is no way I have room for 12.6 cm unfortunately. Just trying to see what I'd have to pay for a stock intel 95TDP capable fan ...
#15
I'm struggling to find a stock Intel HSF that I know will work with the CPU - still looking though ...

have got a
q6600 would like £65 +p+p
4gb of ocz reaper ram (4x1gb) pc6400 £40 +p+p
asus p5n-d mother board £20 +p+p
nexus cpu fan (not sure what model and would have to sell with mb as the securing plate for the fan is on the back of the mb stuck on with sticky pads so dont want to remove and cause any damage to board) £10+p+p

the only problem with this lot is on the pciex16 2 slot on the mb the clip that releases the graphics card has snapped off so no problem if you only running 1 card and i never had any problems when i had it in sli mode either.
never been over clocked and selling due to upgrading to new i7 set up

Is the Q6600 a SLACR (Stepping 0) version ?
Does it come with the intel standard HSF ?
Assume you are willing to split as only interested in the CPU.

it is the go version and on the back it does say slacr
but unfortunatly have not got original fan

Unfortunately the Q6600 has a 105 TDP heat output and as you can see from the thread I'm having difficulty finding a HSF that will handle that kind of heat and fit in my HTPC case - the intel standard one will, bot have to go spending about £30 to get a low profile zalman or similar which makes it not worthwhile for me...

I'll look again today to try and find a fan ...

mumbojumbo
I've a Q6600, G0 stepping with Intel fan and retail box. Out of warranty.
It's in a hackintosh at the moment with an Akasa HSF, which rarely gets used.
Looking for £75 incl Royal Mail Special Delivery.

So its a used Q6600, in the original retail box with the original unused intel cooler that came with it ?
I presume you overclocked it with the Asaka HSF ?

The Akasa is an extra quiet cooler. It's used mainly as a media centre pc, with a Gigabyte 9800GT Silent Cell gpu. Intel's SpeedStep means it normally runs below the rated clockspeed and temps normally reach a max of 20 degrees above ambient.

what height is it compared to a standard cooler - or do you have a model number ?
