I bought a set of Muzzy videos second-hand for our grandchildren.

The instructions said to just play the French video over and over and (as if by magic) the kids will be spouting French in no time at all.

They also made elaborate claims to the effect that Muzzy is hailed as one of the greatest learning tools ever.

Well, the French video is a very dated cartoon, all in French, spoken in the most ridiculous, distorted accents. Our grandchildren (aged 5 and 7) watched it a couple of times, laughed a little at some of the funny pictures, after which they were thoroughly bored and resisted all my enticements to watch it again.

More to the point, I fail to see how it helps the kids to speak French. The characters are speaking French ('Bonjour. Je suis la regne' etc), but how on earth are the kids expected to understand what they are saying? Beats me, and I can speak French.

Much over-rated (and too expensive), in my opinion, but I stand to be corrected by anyone who has had more success.
