School Embroidered Badges on Uniforms

My sons school as recently changed its name and have a whole new uniform. We have all been given school uniform for each child, however the black v neck jumpers we been given are really poor quality.I call up the shop doing the uniform today and asked how much they and they said they cost about £12. This is the worst jumper you could see and its dead rough,I only pay low prices for uniforms, last time with white polo tops they were £1 each down QS and when they get marked pulled stained with paint, you can just chuck away instead of washing.Anyway I also asked at the shop would they put the badge on the jumper if you bought elsewhere and they said yes it be £6,this is such a rip off but at least with £3-4 for a jumper thats way better quality it is better than paying out £12. My daughter due to start school in September and there is no way she could wear one of their jumpers due to excema.
So does anyone know any sites where I could get the school badge put on jumper for less? I'm not sure how it works,I guess this shop got some template for the machine, could somewhere do it from the design if I supplied a picture of the badge on the jumper we got here.Or is there a shop nationwide branches where I could get this done?

Yeh but you know kids they want to wear the same as everyone else.If others have the badge she want it too. I'll pay the £6 to have it put on a jumper when time comes if no other way of doing it cheaper.

I am in the process of setting up a screen printing business (have literally starved for three months in order to save for the equipment). I can tell you that the service you need is an embroiderer. £6 is cheap when you look at all the work that goes into one design. You are talking at least half an hour of somebodies time to prepare and make that and then sew it to the jumper... usually you have to get large amounts 50 plus items to bring the price down as I don't know of anyone that will do a single item.... they must have produced a job lot for the school and thus they have the badges in their shop. I would bite their hand off because if you asked an embroider to make one you will have to pay £30 tooling costs to set the machine up, They then have to pay staff time, then money for the design. This shop has also got rent and council rates which are very high (rates are 43% of the rent so if the rent is £1000 a week the rates are £430 - £1430 a week). So nowhere will do it for less than £6.

A screen Print would involve using paint which is nowhere near the same quality as embroidery.... and may not be accepted by the school - still you will be looking at about £30 for a single print

You could always do Iron on transfers but even then it would be about £3 and a lot of messing about for an inferior finish! I would snap the guys hand off for £6. I know it seems a lot but at least your kids won't get picked on or teased and they school uniforms last for ages....

Plus I got charged £15 in London just for a dry cleaner shop to sew one button onto my jacket - they did a terrible job and mis-aligned the button with the hole. In the grand scheme of things £6 isn't that much (this coming from a man who has had £1,86 to last him for the past 24 days and still not paid the rent due 27 days ago..... Payday on Friday Yippeee!)

Yeh they have already produced a load for the school, the school they give every child a school uniform shoes gym kit the lot for free.Bit silly really doing this in April as some are only going get a few mths wear out of it for the children in the last yr of school, they should done it ready for the start of the school yr.
The shop has whatever is needed already to put the embroidered design on. I ain't happy with the quality of the sweaters they use,so I will buy my own,( paid £3 each in Woolworths )they really rough and I ain't going let my daughter wear 1 due to excema. This could be the sort of thing that could start it back up bad.
So £6 is cheap for this sort of thing,me and my Mum thought it was expensive as its not like any kind of special order as they do it anyway.Yeh school uniforms can last a while aslong as they don't get lost or stolen more the word for it!

Damn £15 to sew a button on,I would took the garment back for it to be redone also.
