Dell Mini 9 upgraded to 60GB Crucial solid state drive SSD and 2GB RAM. Has genuine copy of Win XP with COA sticker. Bought new in April last year, seen very little use. Hasn't only been turned on in the last few months to take photos to help sell it...

Yes, I'll accept that. Many thanks. And sorry not to have alerted you to this before now. I had it in mind, but was too busy last night.

The box should here somewhere - let me take a look for it. It has a protective sleeve btw which I think was purchased separately later (I forget!). I'll update details once I find the box.
#8
OK Bud.
#9
Argghh ... don't have the box after all. Just spent an hour searching. Back later when I find the original discs. Atm all I have is the machine, charger and sleeve. House move doesn't make it easy to find things!
#10
I'm going to pass on this bud unless you can find the box.Good luck with sale.

Ok, nps. I'm not going to bother searching for the box any more as we have a room full of unopened boxes from our move and not planning to tackle them until the renovation is finished at the end of the year.

So if anyone doesn't mind missing the original small cardboard box, this is available @ £165 for the lot, or separately @ £85 for the SSD and £90 for the rest.

I'm happy to take this for £90 without the SSD if it comes with the original drive?

I'm quite sure you would be. Good night. :)
#15
??? Is that a no?
#16
Is the £90 conditional on someone offering 85 for the SSD?

Yes, don't want to be left with one or the other. But the other point is, I don't have an additional HDD. If I did, it would have been mentioned, and the price wouldn't be £90. Thought that would have been fairly obvious on both points :)
#18
lol, alright, wasn't clear at the time, am happy to offer 85 for just the laptop no hdd, am happy to hold out to see if someone wants the ssd :)

Noted, thanks. But have a feeling that the HDD will have to go on eBay. They sell there for £100+, but it's not a price I'd pay myself for an upgrade (not these days anyway) and I doubt many on HUKD would either!

I'll give both a couple more days here and then list elsewhere.

I think I asked you last time what model the SSD was but the thread was closed before I could tell you how to find out.

If you download a program called HDTune, I think theres a free version. You can find out, and it'll help buyers because not all SSDs are made equal. Might be interested in the package depending on which SSD it is.

Sorry for long reply on this. Forgot all about it. Right, I've downloaded the HD Tune onto the Dell Mini and am looking at it now. It has a serial number but no model number that I can see.

Info that I have:

58870MB capacity
53296MB available
Supported features: SMART, Write cache, Power man't
Firware vers: Ver2.M1B

Have done some tests and this produces good results compared with my M1330 mechanical drive (5,400 RPM). Some example times for comparison:

DELL MINI 9 Crucial 64GB SSD
Random access read:
512 bytes 0.595 mb/s
4kb 4.430 mb/s
64kb 28.354 mb/s
1mb 39.439 mb/s
random 38.078 mb/s

AAM - average access time 0.9 ms

DELL M1330 with 500GB 5,400 RPM Drive
Random access read:
512 bytes 0.028 mb/s
4kb 0.224 mb/s
64kb 3.374 mb/s
1mb 29.088 mb/s
random 16.471 mb/s

AAM - average access time 17.4 ms

It has 2GB of RAM. It was purchased with 1GB but upgraded to 2GB. I'll get more pics up shortly and add them to the first post. Will PM you with an empty message when it's been done.

Will check battery life tomorrow by fully charging tonight and using it until it run dry. Haven't used it much, and it's never been used for more than a couple of hours on battery so I've no idea how long it lasts. It has the original charger, etc, but the small Dell cardboard box that it came in has been discarded I'm afraid.

The box im not bothered about mate, as long as all the contents are there etc, and its in good condition, with a decent battery, ill take. Let me know how long the battery lasts.

I have the funds waiting in my paypal.

Sure thing, sounds good. I'm sure the battery will run for hours, but I'll do a proper test tomorrow with WiFi on and get those pics up. It's all good and I'm sure you'll be happy with it. It deserves to be used rather than sitting unused on my shelf. Cheers :)

@ ak47townsend. No idea. Anyway, I'm holding this for Sandford until further notice.

---------------------------------------------------------
I'll keep a note of battery here:
9:15 PM - Just turned on with 'minimal power management' and leaving WiFi on with a couple of websites open
11:07 PM - Turning off for night- battery meter showing 41% remaining
7:37 AM - Restarted and using radio
8:55 AM - Radio 4 still playing away and meter showing 5% battery. Turned off radio and it jumped to 7%
9:02 AM - Turned off WiFi and turned down screen brightness and letting run idle on battery management
9:27 AM - I shut down with 3% remaining. It's now recharging :)

So that's nearly 4 hours with the screen always on at full brightness, connected to internet most of the time, streaming radio for more than an hour. If you changed settings to max battery or just lowered the screen brightness, I expect the results would be significantly better.

Ok, new pic and battery timings added to the post above this. This pic designed to show the small amount of scratching/scuffing on the lid. Overall vg cosmetic condition. I'm including the spongey red pouch along with the original setup guide and charger. The pic is taken with a camera phone in VGA so not good quality. The colour of the pouch is a deep red, not pink/red as this photo suggests.
