Interested - can you post some pics of the box and license sticker (mask out the code obviously!) please :)
#2
I don't have the orginal box, comes in the cardboard wallet with all orginal paper work - but will post pictures tomorrow morning for you.
#3
Surely if its a recent disc, SP2 should come slipstreamed on the same disc., not seperately.

An opened 2nd hand packet aint worth much over £ 20
#4
yeah, mainly beacuse if its in a packet it's OEM which have limited activations
#5
OP states it is full retail version, not OEM?
#6
yeah but full retail version would have a box + inside box + manual + certificate of auth not just a cardboard sleeve... thats OEM - belive me i sell em!!!
#7
So this is the version which you would buy from a shop?

The OP didn't say 'recent'. It could still be a new disk purchased some years ago before SP2 was incorporated.

It's a bit strange that the original box & other bits are missing, & why hasn't the OP used it all these years? May be s/he's got an explanation - or three :whistling:

Jesus you guys are a joke.
I am an I.T consultant
1) Yes it is a full retail version purchased from my software supplier. NOT CHEAP OEM RUBBISH
2) It was the first release of XP Professional - so no SP2, there was a time before SP2 you know - I never said how old it was but you are looking at around 24 months.
3) The box it came it has been chucked away as the wallet is more than enough to keep it in.
4) It has never been used as it was purchased to upgrade an existing machine - but in the end I replaced the machine with a new one which had an XP license on it.
5) No limitations on this software as it is Retail
6) If your not intersted then don't hi jack a thread and make stupid points or speculating - idiots

Pictures will be posted later.

Around 24 months? Odd as SP2 is over 3.5 years old and SP1 5.5 years old. Without its box its worth much less to me anyway so withdrawing interest, thanks :)

Will this work with bootcamp on mac osx without any hassle?

I doubt it as Macs and Microsoft are not compatible

An IT consultant you say? You might want do some reading!

boothy - you might have some problems as bootcamp is only officially for XP-SP2 and Vista, so you'd need to update the software before install the Mac drivers. Its possible to create a new install disc with SP2 slipstreamed into it (remember what you are paying for really is the XP license, not the disc, and this is allowed in the licensing agreement).

I.T consultant I am and I have a CCNA and MCSE to prove it - also a very healthy business, so thanks - no mac users
You can not know eveything you know, but I have learned something so cheers.

You try and do someone a favour and all you get is people slagging you off - great com this place is.
Boothy and Jah please go and carry on with your little lives and leave this thead as you no longer have an interest in this.
If anybody else is intrested please let me know as you will not be dissapointed.

OP- came on because I want to change from this damn Vista OS which came installed on my Acer to XP- and have got to say i'm a bit put off buying because of your responses. As far as I can see, all questions asked are ones i'd ask as an interested potentail buyer- not spamming or trying to knock your sale.
Anyway- beyond that, still interested because of the price- so can you post some pics pls?
#16
It would've been ideal if you provided as much detail as you could the first time around. Because you hadn't, your initial ad did look a bit fishy. Put yourself in our shoes & you'll see what we mean.

OK, nobody's perfect, & providing all details initially is probably too much to ask. But you could have, at the very least, answered queries (even if they were very annoying/cynical) in a polite & objective manner, without any name calling or insults. Any professional or decent human being would have done this. Were you having a bad day or something?

Just for the record, us 'cynics' were not hijacking your post - just concerned that no one gets defrauded. Some (if not most) like to help & look out for each other on here. You may be the recipient of such help one day.

Yes, some pictures will be nice. And please post your eBay ID, or selling ID on any other site - thanks.

I may be interested if billyX changes his/her mind (if you're willing to sell to me).

£25 delivered?

No thanks
#22
£28?.....
#23
Thanks for the pics. Can you also post the Product key/COA sticker? Blur/blankout the code before doing so.

Is this in any way an academic/educational licence?

Do you have an eBay ID & PayPal verified account? Have asked about the former before.
#24
The COA is the yellow sticker on the back - the last picture.
It is a retail license and is in no way limited - I currently do not have a valid e-bay account.
I am PayPal verified and you are welcome to have name, address, phone number if purchasing.

Are you sure? This is what my XP Pro OEM COA sticker looks like.

This is not OEM, it's a retail one and I'm pretty sure this didn't come with anything to attach to a machine - it can be installed on any machine and is not restricted to just one.
By that I mean there is nothing stopping you installing it on one machine - trashing the O/S and then installing it on new hardware. It is one licensed copy of the software, but not licensed to the machine.
I'm sure OEM is licesned to hardware and not to software as this is.

Yes, OEM versions should only ever be installed on one PC. If that PC dies then the OEM version of XP dies with it.

Retail versions can be installed on another PC as long as it is removed from the original PC.

It depends what part of the PC dies...i believe the license is tied to the motherboard...so if it is the motherboard that dies, then the license ends there. If however its a hard drive, graphics card, etc then the license is still valid and the software can be re-installed Someone can correct me if I am wrong..but thats how the XP OEM license used to work.
