SOLD: LG Viewty on O2 - New, boxed, with O2 iPhone SIM * SOLD * £70.00

Was going to make the move to O2 but have changed my mind - the signal isn't very good in my area. Has been used a few times in the house to test the signal and functions, so as new (hasn't even had screen protector removed).

Colour = dark silver / grey

Comes with an unregistered sealed iPhone SIM - or for an extra £3 you can have an iPhone SIM with £6 credit left (listed on other thread)

Now £70 plus postage at cost
- Liddle ol' me

Note: This is not a clearance/refurb like the T-Mobile model on e2save. Unlike that deal, this comes with everything as new (headphones, disc, usb cable, stylus etc) and does not have the inferior camera.
- Liddle ol' me
Shipping/Payment:
£79 plus P&P at cost. PPG (£3 extra for SIM with £6 credit)

oh by the way I think the best thing to do with the O2 internet sims is cycle them. I got the warning in Jan, stopped using it for a month and only now has the warning come back. ....

I was told this would do it http://www.mygreatphone.com/forum/modifications-hacking/6619-step-step-unlocking-ku990-viewty-images-included.html - I gave it a go but wouldn't bring up the screen in stage 3 so I gave up. Anyway, I was only going to do it to make it more saleable as I'd already decided O2 wasn't for me.

Maybe yes, but can't think of anything I need tbh.

On it's way soon. Need to charge the camera battery first (thanks for the reminder - need to anyway as we are off on day-trip tomorrow). Back later.

EDIT: Btw, apols all for my late reply. I listed this and immediately got called for dinner. Since it was alfresco, it dragged on longer than usual. Bit drunk now too :)

i can confirm the unlocking method you found does work , used it on my o2 and 3 viewtys , but its one you have to follow exactly. (especaily the backing up part , if you loose your own files it will render parts of your phone useless). it doesnt describe the pressec well , but it seems you backup your files - wipe phone - unlock - copy your files back on it. not a realy *firmware* hack as on normal phones.

Thanks for that. It was the backing-up part that I couldn't get the screen for. I've just looked at the page again, and I got stage 3 finished, but the screen on stage 4 wouldn't appear for me. Thought it might have been a Vista issue so tried on XP but same result. :? EDIT: Just to confirm, everything happened as per the guide except that the I couldn't get the screen on Step 4 to appear.

Hi, what software version did you guys manage to unlock? I have a Viewty Locked to O2 running s/w KU990GO_V10a and was contemplating using the unlock method suggested, but read on there that some versions were incompatible.

Thanks

If you have the LG suite and drivers installed correctly , and can brows your phonebooks and stuff from your pc then it should work perfect. sometimes you need to choose another usb hub as it can somehow assign phantom comports.

my first guess is lg suite not installed properly , 2nd guess is "windows enabler.exe" not running as admin.

Liddle the pictures? :-D

The signal is the phone not the sim, my mate has one on T Mobile and pretty much doesn't have decent signal no matter where he is.
#12
@dcx_badass - you're wrong. We have a Viewty on 3 and the connection is perfect. It is the O2 signal that is limited in this area (as evidenced by their own coverage map). We have the same signal strength problem with O2 using our other unlocked phones (K850i, LG Cookie, K660i).

Apols for the delay - here is a photo. I recommend the poet too if you want to read something real. :)

Ok, thanks for that, but I'll turn it down. If you could do £70 + actual postage costs, I could swallow my losses a little more easily.

Says KU990 on the box. And yes it comes with everything as new. Like I say in the description, this has only been tested in the house for a couple of days and hasn't even had any of the protective seals taken off it. It is as good as new.

Sorry mini0ne, I have more phones than I need atm and will probably end up with another two when I take out new contracts this month. Just waiting for Apple announcements...

That phone is a clearance model and with an inferior camera. Read some of the comments and you'll see that people were disappointed - refurb without all the items (e.g. missing earphones, USB cable, software CD, stylus - only phone and charger). Mine is a new phone with everything included. EDIT: Note the info below from that thread.

uncle buck
Hi,
I have been looking on the web & have found out a few things....

The KU990i is the Lite version of the Viewty. This version only comes with a charger ....nothing else.

I found this on the web also...

"The KU990i is a cheaper version of KU990 that was released probably to keep their sales high during the economical crisis.
The Schneider lens have been replaced with cheap no-name ones found in the KF750 Secret, making the camera loose its image stabilising and red eye reduction features; also the xenon flash has been replaced with a LED flash. Changes for the better include face tracking and smile detection features, Xvid playback and .txt support."

So it looks like it's a toss up as to which phone is the best, the viewty or the viewty lite.....I suppose it depends what you want from the phone.
The good thing is that the phone has turned up unlocked & unbranded....would the £79.99 phone have been unlocked? Would the other phone be the lite version also?

I have had a mess on with the phone & can tell you straight away the camera isn't very good....I always test cameras the same way, by taking a close up shot of a coin. The 990i has a macro function that should allow you to take detailed close up shots...but it just doesn't seem to work & the shots are very poor. My Samsung D900 has no macro feature but can take excellent close up shots...a lot better than the LG.
So if you are thinking of buying this phone for the camera, look elsewhere as in my opinion it's very poor.

well, would be good to get rid of both at once, but you are squeezing me a bit too much on price

I'd be sending SD, so if you can do £90 I'll get £84 or so, still less than I paid for the phone alone!

Who do you bank with?

If they're in my local town centre I will raise my offer to £90.

Barclays

EDIT: nearly forgot - I have a rarely used current account with Nationwide too.

Barclays is fine, I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't going to have to travel 20 miles to go to a C&G or something.

I'm happy to deal at £90 for the pair then.

I will pay the money in over the counter first thing in the morning, when would you be able to post it?

We'll go to PM if you're happy anyway

Edit - I will pay extra for a compatible memory card if you have one for sale...?
#40
Sorry for delay - was on phone cancelling my last 3 contract (dongle). Yes, that's all good and I can post tomorrow for you - if you are paying over the counter it will show immediately online. I'll check at lunchtime and then post after 5pm.

To PM - thanks :)
