What do you mean?

if it goes missing in the post then you will not be covered for the full amount if sent by ordinary mail or recorded
#25
1st and 2nd class mail - insurance up to £34
1st or second class recorded mail SIGNED FOR - Insurance up to £34
Special delivery guarenteed next day insured to £500
banned#26
you try claiming anything back for ordinary delivery, most get nowt, but as already said anything over £34 (thought it was £36) will not be covered
#27
you will only get compen with normal mail if you have proof, i.e a certificate of post, or recipt etc....without that like sassie said you get nothing.....

but if you did....you would still have to pay the buyer the FULL amount...

sassie is just pointing out.....you will need special delivery if you want this item insured,......if not...and it gets lost.....you will HAVE to pay the buyer 100% refund...and keep ur fingers crossed getting anything back off royal mail
#28
Thanks for pointing it out guys. That's why i prefer special deilvery.

But.........if the person requests it to be sent a certain way i.e. 1st or 2nd class standard isn't it the buyers responsibility?

no it is yours. if they are paying through paypal and it doesnt get there, paypal will award them, why would the buyer or seller want to leave themselves open to this? I think it is up to the seller to make sure they are covered, if the buyer doesnt want it posting like this then the seller shouldnt sell it
#30
Thats whi i prefer to send special del.

Not sure about the 'if the buyer doesnt want it posting like this then the seller shouldn't sell it' comment - i know buyers and sellers need to protect themseves but aren't people free to do as they please?

they are...but what sassie is saying is....if it goes missing...no matter how the buyer requests it to be sent.....the seller will loose out in the eyes of paypal....

it is the sellers responsibility only...to cover themself....and by fully insuring the item is the best way...

say you sent it 2nd class..........it goes missing......buyer claims to paypal.....he gets £76

you claim to royal mail...(only if u have proof of posting)....you get £34...

were just helping you out...but at the end of the day it is totally up to you

yes they are but realistically until the buyer receives it it isnt actually theirs, personally i would only send unrecorded/special delivery and if i chose to be stupid enough not to then i would take the brunt if it went missing, no-one would pay cdwow if they didnt receive their dvd and dont think private sellers should be any different
#33
tazandsaz - understand what your saying, never sold through paypal before (in fact not sold much through internet )

Sassie - selling private and through major retailers is very different, i offered for sale via special delivery, if you read the thread somebody offered me lower price using 2nd class.

yes i know this, but to be honest if your happy to send through 2nd class then surely you are as resonsible as the buyer, if not even more so, the buck stops with you really as you are the one that is happy to send out in this way, sometimes its not about laws etc,etc its about principles, i will now leave it there
#35
OK - if anyone is interested in buying i will post by special del - this is my preferred method.

If someone requests unrecorded/standard post then i would only post at buyers risk.

I already feel a "i didnt get the item" thread coming on already, well done you opened yourself up there may i also suggest to the buyer to pay via paypal and have it sent unrecorded:thumbsup:
