For sale is my top of the range Sony STR K740P Surround sound amp and it's 5.1 speakers. This is an amazing bit of kit capable of decoding DTS, Dolby Digital & Pro Logic signals. All you have to do is connect a dvd player (or other device to it) and then indulge in proper surround sound from a serious device, not one of these toy 5.1 sets that are cropping up everywhere now.
[* Power output stereo : 80 Watts x 2 into 8 Ohms, 20-20 kHz
[* Power output surround: 80 Watts X 5 Surround Mode, into 8 ohms,
[* Surround: Dolby Digital/dts/Dolby Pro Logic decoding
[* Headphone jack: 1/4" type
[* Video outputs: Component, Composite, S-Video
[* Audio outputs: Analog L/R, Coaxial Digital Output
[* Station presets: 30 Total (20 FM/ 10 AM)
[* DVD surround : Dolby Digital and dts Digital Output
[* Disc compatibility: CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW/+RW & MP3 Playback
[* Power handling (Front/Rear Speakers): 100 Watts Maximum
[* Power handling (Center Speakers) : 100 Watts Maximum
[* Front/rear speaker dimensions: 3.1 x 5.5 x 4.7 inches
[* Center speaker dimensions: 9 x 3.1 x 4.7 inches
[* Subwoofer dimensions: 10.7 x 12.8 x 15.9 inches

One sold for £250 on ebay a couple of months ago but since there's a little cloth damage on a couple of the speakers (they're hidden anyway!) offers start over £150 please! P&P will be £25 as this is bloody heavy or you can pickup from Headingley, Leeds.

Stands not included but if you're collecting, we can negotiate if you want them.

I have an ebay seller rating of over 200 and payment is preferred by cash/cheque/bank transfer but if you feel safer with paypal, that can be sorted as well.

And thanks for taking time to look at the thread :)

Would recommend this system as poses great value for money.

A bit on the large side but great sound from it for the price, I have my DVD player with coaxial digital and xbox 360 with digital optical and it sounds amazing.

My fabric damaged too, am thinking what they would look like with the fabric ripped off??
Not sure DJNG. My rear ones are hidden so it matters little at the moment. Good point though.
i was also wondering about the fabric ripped off

is it prologic or prologic II

it appears to be prologic 1 - but it confuses me because of the "ipod" mode - i would have thought because of the date it would have been II
I guess underneath It'll probably just be plain black with the speaker bits. I just don't wanna rip 'em off just yet. Feel free to if you purchase it though

The Ipod mode is programmed in manually. As is my PC mode :). Methinks it's Prologic I
Just forgotten that of course, you also get the remote as well! I'll even leave batteries in. :-D
I am after a new amp and was nearly tempted but I would have to use my current speakers or buy new as those would not look good on my wall.

I then had a look at one of these which is meant to be very good.

I also noticed that yours does not sell that well on ebay, maybe due to it being a bit older. Some have gone below £100.

Maybe price it a little lower to get interest going. I was tempted as I said but its a bit over priced.
I'll buy this off you so long as it works good and the price is right :)

I am just a few minutes away from you as well, I am just in Moor Allerton so I could probably walk to you in about 20 minutes!

Any chance I could pop over for a quick demo at some point?

Just one question, has it got digital optical input? I need it for my xbox 360 you see so its no good without!

waj1234 - Cheers for the input dude. That yamaha receiver looks decent but I think a fair chunk of the value in this is in the speakers and that huge bloody sub (which needs it's own power lead :p)

I'll have a chat with robgoldt about it. Still open to offers though.

Rob, contact me if possible please!

Can now do this for £95 collected or £120 delivered.

Not taking offers on this new price please unless they are VERY close.

Cheers all
If only you were in Newcastle, I would have them/it.. grr
If only you were in Newcastle, I would have them/it.. grr

Take a trip :-D

Postage is only so much because it's quality kit, and as such, it weighs a fair whack!
Shameless bumpage :)
hi mate this completely slipped my mind! i still haven't invested in a decent hifi yet,i'm using the 15w pc speakers at the minute lol. would you consider £70 for it? i know how to get to you as it turned out my mate works within a few mins of your house
I know Rob, we never quite managed to sort out a proper date did we?

£95 is absolute rock bottom for it mate. I might also be persuaded to sell the speaker mounts cheaply for it as well even though they're quite expensive. Anyway, drop me a pm or something about it if still interested.

where u based?
does it work with a xbox 360
I'm based in Leeds.

As far as I'm aware is does as that's why Rob wants/wanted it. It has Optical Toslink (I think this is what the 360 natively uses) and Digital coaxil links as well as the regular phono connections.
yes it will take the digital 5.1 optical input from a 360. so it will give "real" surround sound not just pro logique :)

yeah tell me about it about not being able to find a time, lol. i remember when i texted u about it last it turned out i was just literally 2 mins away from your place! but you were on holiday hehe
btw im selling the 360 at the mo. just after a big hifi for music n movies now really !
Get a good DVD player or something patched into it via Optical toslink then, and away you go.
yeah lol im moving onto plan B - will just use my xbox with media centre and the optical cable already fitted, instead. much better than the 360 for films cause it plays literally everything! and can access my network storage too
Aye, they work perfectly don't they?

Well, let me know if you're still interested in the item and we'll arrange something solid soon. Otherwise, more offers invited although Rob has first dibs so to speak.
75 m8???
90 is the lowest I could possibly go collected. They were up for a lot more when I first had them advertised and there was some interest then although nothing solid.

This is good Sony kit remember with a full decoder onboard, not one of these "Tevion" things you find at your local Aldi.
what else can i connect this too?

Is there a DVD player included ? :?
Is there a DVD player included ? :?

that confused me at first as well , but this is just an amp. try search the model no in google
Yeah, it was a copy and paste job.

It's just the amp. See extensive pictures above!

Still waiting for a pm Rob if you still want it ;-)
75 m8
actually leave it
90 needed to see this go anyway.
Another bump
interested but not at 90, will offer £75, let me know what you think!
Sorry people. 90 is the lowest it's going for.

Not worth my while getting rid for less.
hi mate, sent you a text ;)
Well, still not sold. Sigh.

£85 collected if any of you are still interested. (Leeds area)

You get the Receiver, the 4 satellite speakers, 1 centre speakers and one subwoofer. Also, all the metres of speaker cable and a digital coax cable if I can find it!

Sorry to annoy anyone else on the forum sick of this topic!
