Hi
I have a ticket for Speedferries that can be used anytime now until approximately July next year, it is a return for up to 5 people in a normal sized car. It can be transferred into your name and car. You can, as far as I know, select any date in the future and book the tickets all online. The value of this ranges, depending on when you take your crossing. i think you will find that it will range from about £50 return up to £100 return.

You could go to Boulogne and do some shopping etc. or use it for the start for a cheap holiday.

The ticket was given to me because they let me down due to industrial action in the port. I am selling the ticket as I am too far away to make reasonable use out of it. The email I received from Speedferries states I can pass it onto somebody else:

Dear Customer

Last week your crossing with SpeedFerries was affected by industrial action on the part of the fishermen in Boulogne.

As a gesture of good will for the inconvenience you experienced, SpeedFerries would like to offer you a free return ticket, which is valid for travel within the next 12 months. Should you be unable to use this ticket yourself, it can be passed on to a person of your choice.

The free ticket has been issued with a dummy date and name and can be activated for actual travel dates by logging on to http://ecommerce.speedferries.ats.fi/direct_amd/en/directmenu.asp using the reference number and security code below.

Reference number : XXXXXXX
Security code : XXXX

SpeedFerries is also pleased to inform you that the relevant parties have all committed to a long term solution and that we are assured that SpeedFerries customers will not be inconvenienced in the future by actions of this type.

I will provide the buyer with the codes.
Shipping/Payment:
I will email the codes after payment (paypal or BT)

Its a good price with that particular ferry company however I usually do the P&O to Calais as its only £30 for a car and upto 7 passengers.

Unless someone particularly wants to go to Boulogne it is cheaper to go with P&O to France (Calais)
#3
This should cover any crossing though, regardless of price, and we know how not all crossings are available at all prices :) It also only takes 50 minutes a crossing.

So if i went for 5 days in france, this would be okay?
This isnt a 1 day ticket is it?
Give you £25.
#5
No, it is a full return ticket.

For example, using the lowest fares "basic ticket" with speedferries, if you wanted to go next Monday until Friday:
Leave UK 0700: £49
Return to UK: 20:50 (i.e. arrive 20:40 local time): £53
Total = £102 for 5 people and car.

My price of £40 is pretty good I think and for now, I will stick to it, sorry. Do a mock journey on their site www.speedferries.com and see what you would save. I will obviously provide a full refund if during the purchase it is shown you can't transfer it to yourself (you can according to the email I received).

you keep saying people would have to pay more for the time they want, but with proper planning no one needs to spend over £30 on a trip across the water... with any company. You just need to do your research!

I'd offer £26, but I guess it's a moot now you're not budging :)

I don't see your point or how it is at all relevant? You're not comparing like for like at all. You are also wrong - you can't get a return ticket with Speedferries for what you are saying, simple as that.

If you're suggesting people could save by planning to go at 3am or similar, then fine, but most people don't want to. I think the lowest summer fare that Speedferries offer is £27 each way (at £54 return), but many people want more premium slots.

Not everybody is happy to sail at unusual times or off peak, so maybe if you pick a particular crossing on a particular day with a particular carrier for a particular length of time, you may get it a bit less than £40, but most people do not want to. The example route I gave above comes out at £94 with P&O.

This is a very flexible ticket, not going on the P&O website and seeing the absolute lowest fare you can find at 3am on a tuesday in November ;)

hehe no but whats forcing people to use that specifc carrier? nothing. Thats all i was saying :-) Still, me offer is there :-)
#9
Your words were "with any carrier" :)

I don't think this offer would be best for somebody happy to get *any* crossing on *any* date on *any* carrier at the best price, because you might find something a few pounds cheaper. However, if somebody wants a more reasonable crossing on a date of their selection, this could save anything up to and above £50!

I think £26 is too low for what an open ticket is worth, sorry. It might not be for you if you would be happy for the cheapest crossing at any time, but would be for somebody with something else in mind. Still, £40 is right there in price with the 3am tuesday morning crossings, but can be used for much more premium slots.

I did a quick dummy run of the booking and it seemed fine, i just selected two dates, it stated £0.00 and then it asked me to enter the names of the people travelling (including lead passenger). I would be happy to take your details and do it and forward you the booking reference (that's all speedferries issue) - if there was a problem, you wouldn't need to pay, that would be fine.

cool.. im off to tesco's kwick.. i'll be back on in an hour...please can i have first refusal of an offer...
#13
I'll hold it until you're back :)

If you, or anybody else that wants it, I think the best thing is if you then make me an offer (assuming I accept) and tell me your desired crossing, names and car reg, I will then book it on the system and the booking referrence (which is what you need to sail) and email will be what you then get after you have paid. That way, if I run into a problem, you don't lose any money.
