Long shot maybe. I have a 40GB PS3 with no backwards compatibility but want the 60GB version of the machine that offers it. Am looking for a swap with someone, plus ill add in the cost of a new PS2 on top (I think they are £80 new)

Any takers?

Cant see anybody going for this. My local 2nd hand shop had a 40gb PS3 in for £195 the other day (no control pad though) and I recently sold my 60gb PS3 with 2 games and 1 pad for £450ish on ebay. Personally I cant see the point in buying a PS3 to play PS2 games. Anyway, like I was saying - would prob work out cheaper for you to just buy a PS2 as well - plus you save the wear and tear on the PS3.

yeah i see what your saying, but i have got a ps2, but the thing is, on a 40 inch LCD screen, it looks absolutely shocking. But my mate has the 60GB and when we play the games on his, on a similar TV, with upscaling, it looks superb

What cable do you use to connect the PS2 to the TV? If you haven't already, buy a PS3 Component Cable (these fit the PS2) and then change the output sertting on the PS2 to 420p. You should see a significant difference.

Ive tried connecting via RGB (just looks like a blurry mess) and ive tried via a PS2 component cable (slightly clearer, but really blocky and horrible) Will a PS3 component cable be any better than a ps2 cable? How do you change the output setting on a ps2? and 420P, shouldnt that be 480P? Its a PAL PS2 i have, i didnt think they did progressive scan, at least ive never come accross any british games that support it

A lot of PS2 games don't play or don't play very well on the PS3 60g, make sure your favourites work on the PS3 before getting rid of your PS2.

Hi,

Yes, that should have been 480p  As far as I'm aware, there's no difference between PS2 and PS3 Component cables. You change the output through the system settings, but can't remember off the top of my had if it allows you to select the resolution or just the type of connection.

Is yours boxed do you have a receipt ? If so i'd be interested but i'd be wanting £125 on top.

I have one fully boxed with receipt.

Hi aty. Mine is boxed yes and does have the receipt with it as well. Ill mull over the 125 and get back to you before the end of the day

All - is there a list anywhere or a site which details comprehensively what works and what doesnt on the 60GB ps3? Also, ive seen a few half hearted lists of games which work and dont, but none really say whether its a compatibility list for ps3s with the half hardware half software emulation, or the ps3s with full ps2 hardware emulation

UK ps3's (60GB's) are half hardware & half software emulation.

USA & Jap ones are full hardware emulation, but will only play games from their own region. So a USA ps3 (the original ones) will only pay USA ps2 games AFAIK.

I look forward to hearing from you later.

As you can see i'm "up the road" from you.

I think i will pass actually. Have been reading into it and it does seem that the BC isnt actually all its cracked up to be, with many games full of bugs etc. Mistakenly, i assumed the PS3 would work pretty much spot on with PS2 games but with upscaled graphics so it didnt look as bad in HD. But seems i got that part wrong. Thanks for the offer though
