Is it a UK model? Or an import (and, if so, from where) & when was it imported?

Each "fat & heavy" PSP unit bears a model reference to indicate which region the unit was designed for, as well as a "Date Code" (to signify manufacture date).

The regional references are below for your information. Perhaps you could open the battery compartment & check which reference is printed & also the Date Code?

* PSP1000 - Japan
* PSP1001 - USA
* PSP1002 - Australia
* PSP1003 - United Kingdom
* PSP1004 - Europe, Middle East, & Africa
* PSP1005 - Korea
* PSP1006 - Hong Kong
* PSP1007 - Taiwan
* PSP1008 - Russia
* PSP1009 - China

If you have a true Japanese 1.50/1.51/1.52 firmware model, it will have reference "PSP-1001" & a Date Code of "5A" Or "5B" (and Motherboard "TA-79").

Are you the original owner?
Did you purchase from new?
Is it still within warranty and, if so, can you provide a proof of purchase (of console & games titles) within the sale in case a claim has to be made?

Is it possible to see some photos of the screen both on & off?

And also around the top of Universal Media Drive (UMD) door [as this often gets scratched whilst putting discs in & out], and additionally a photo of the rear of the unit to show the metal ring of the UMD drive as this in also prone to damage when placing the console on a hard surface?

With the screen on, a photo of the XMB (Cross Media Bar) screen, & also of the System Information screen showing the firmware release information (and the MAC address) would be very useful.

You can obscure your username (digitally) if you feel concerned about showing that.

Finally, would you consider a straight sale, or are you just looking for a trade only?

Thanks for your time replying.

BFN,

fp.

Sounds good so far.

Looking forward to the photos.

Do you have any ideas on a fixed price you would accept?

Also, would you accept a (verified) PayPal payment, & be able to post by some form of insured courier (Royal Mail Special Delivery preferred)?

Thanks again.

Hi, I could make you a pandora battery and memory card if you like, then you can do the downgrades yourself without any risk of bricking etc.
You send me your battery and I'll provide you with a magic memory stick and create the battery, £25 inc special delivery.

Another thought Lord Darkness, if there's a CEX near you, trade it- I just got (another) boxed mint cond PSP from them today for £95, unboxed is £90, trade on unboxed is £67, so you could replace it there for £23. They'll let you trade it for a lower firmware version and check to see which ones have 1.5 or 2, check the screen too etc. The £95 one I got today was 2.0 and absolutely mint.
#20
yeah, i just spent £110 on it, so im not sure if i want to spend another £23 atm, i might do that though if i cant sell it :) thanx for the info Mate

Hi,

Thanks for doing those.

Regarding the one showing the rear of the console; is that a scratch on the metal ring to the right of the "PSP" logo?

Could you make a "Pandora Battery" for both a "fat & heavy" & a "slim & lite" model? (Would they cost the same?)

Thanks for your clarification.

Ouch!

Given you can buy a brand new "fat & heavy" console for £99.99 now (or £82.49 for a Pink Limited Edition console at Argos), obviously offering a full 12 month warranty, I would not be looking to spend more than this on a pre-owned model.

How much would you consider without the game titles? Or was your price without them anyway?

the £110 was inc the games, so, i'll see what i can get for the games, if i can get 20 (which is how much they cost) then i guess £89.99 for the PSP
#28
Yeah, good point LD. I don't know why they don't ship the PSP with the original firmware anyway, loads of games have the updates on them and by the time anyone buys the console the firmware is probably going to be out of date anyway.

FAO FP- from what i've read, the PSP battery will fit into the new lite version, but will 'stick out the back' as it has a deeper profile, so the Pandora should fit both. The usual thing with the Pandora is to get one when/if you mess up the firmware update- kind of like driving round without a spare wheel, if you have a puncture it may be a bit of a wait for the AA man to arrive rather than changing it yourself, but the end result is the same- and if you don't have a puncture and get to your destination safely, well you've saved a few quid. Having provided that motoring analogy (sorry, i'm a teacher, everything has to be compared to something in my explanations!), £25 for a Pandora battery and a memory card could be a good deal if you're the cautious kind, and there is a resale value there if you don't end up using it.

Yes, they show the scratch further up on the same side that you couldn't see in the earlier photos :) Oh dear.

PS. If it helps just post a link to the album view of your photo collection:

Thanks. I was thinking mainly for downgrading a new "slim & lite" rather than having an emergency toolkit on-hand in case of breakdown.

At present I don't have a "slim & lite" to send you a battery from.

I guess I could just source a spare battery from 'an auction' site, although I have seen similar offers inclusive of batteries.

Thanks for the lesson anyway. What age range do you teach?

That's a better price, but obviously dependent on the sale of your games.

Why not see if anybody wants to take the whole package off you first?...

Hi FP, I think there's a bit of confusion now (me talking about cars has probably contributed here!), it was MikeBeaver who offered the Pandora battery deal, not me.

One more bit of information that may help you, YouTube has a bunch of downgrading guides that helped me to change the firmware on my first PSP. It's not a place most people would think of looking, which is why I mention it. Actually, this may not be as OT as it seems- Lord Darkness, why don't you watch a couple of these videos too and think about downgrading your PSP to solve your problem?

Anyway, night all- teaching a Y1 class tomorrow morning who see hyperactivity as a normal state of mind! FP, I teach Primary (mainly).
#34
Fanpages:Yeah I could do that, the battery will work in both PSP fat and PSP Slim, only thing is that at the moment there is NO unbricker for the Slim, so you have to be careful with it.

All you would need to do is send me the battery(needs to be one from a psp fat, but it can be converted back and forth once you have the software installed), ill convert the battery and supply a memory card, the memory card will be set to eiither the fat or slim, then to change it just pop it in to a PC and replace a few files, this is easy once the initial work has been done, I did it today when my Slim and lite final fantasy edition turned up from Japan.

Mike..

Oh, BTW no extra charge for su
Also on another note, the pandorra battery is the ONLY way to get the Slim and Lite to play "other" games and it isnt just about saving a PSP from a brick ( as the analogy of the puncture made it look) you can use the pandorra to go straight to custom firmware or downgrade, you plug it in, it does its thing, its like an easy installer as it were, you dont need to read anything, you just put it in to do the work.pplying those extra files, it will take me like 2 mins to put them on a disk mate.
#35
no point downgrading a slim and lite yet as there is no access to the 1.5 kernel meaning majority of homebrew is unable to run

Sorry... yes, too many cross-threads in one here... my poor brain cannot cope.

I have seen a few YouTube videos, but after a while you just need a big pointer to say "watch this one", as most of them are either out of focus (perhaps on purpose to mask user names, etc), or just too long.

I bought my firm Dark_AleX'ed machine from eBay. Paid over the odds, as I didn't know any different, but since then I've upgraded it a few times.

Good luck tomorrow... sounds like you'll need it! :)

By "homebrew" you mean the mass-market definition of ".iso" & ".cso" files, rather than user-community created software?

Do you know of any official titles that work at present?

Thanks.

Yup.... that's the one I meant. The console are easily scratched here if put down onto a hard surface. Unfortunately, it turns a "looks new" console that you can use for a present, into an obvious pre-"loved" (i.e. used) one instantly though :(
