Hi there.

I have two train tickets (reserved seats) to Prestatyn - London Return, for outward on 16th November and inward on the 18th November. They are worth £118. I also think the train stops at certain points so I dont think you have to use them for Prestatyn.

Due to unforseen circumstances, I am now unable to go on this journey and therefore can't cancell two train tickets.

If anyone would be willing to make an offer it would be much appreciated. Also, if anyone could advise me on where I could sell these tickets (such as a specialist website) that would also be apreciated.

Please feel free to PM me for more details, further contact.

Sorry but train tickets can't legally be sold on, so this post will be moved shortly.

The sale of all UK train tickets (including Eurostar tickets) by unauthorised persons is not permitted under the railway byelaws, made under Section 129 of the Railways Act 1993. Therefore, unless you are an authorised seller as described below, you may not list train tickets on eBay. In Ireland, the sale of all train tickets (including LUAS and DART tickets) is not permitted under the relevant railway bylaws.
An authorised person means someone acting in the course of his or her duties who is an employee or agent of the relevant train operator, or any other person authorised by the train operator or a person operating any railway assets.

"Railway byelaw 21.

Unauthorised buying or selling of tickets
(1) Subject to Byelaw 21(4), no person shall sell or buy any ticket.

(2) Subject to Byelaw 21(4), no person shall transfer or receive any unused or partly used ticket, intending that any person shall use it for travelling unless the conditions of use for the ticket specifically permit such transfer.

(3) Subject to Byelaw 21(4) no person shall knowingly use any ticket which has been obtained in breach of Byelaw 21.

(4) The sale or transfer by, or the purchase or receipt from, an authorised person in the course of his duties or from an authorised ticket machine is excepted from the provisions of Byelaw 21."

Punishable by a fine of up to £1000 (and it does happen.)

Also, conditions of carriage states:

"6. You may not transfer a ticket to another person

A ticket may only be used by the person for whom it has been bought. It may not be resold or passed on to anyone else unless this is specifically allowed by the terms and conditions which apply to that ticket and which are set out in the notices and publications of the relevant Train Company."

For the Op though, you CAN get a full refund if you simply take the ticket back to where you bought it from BEFORE the date of travel. (there are restriction on heavily discounted tickets - but as you state you paid £118 I doubt this would apply)
I work on the railway and if I remember correctly, and I don't work in a ticket office so could be wrong, even nonrefundable tickets like apex tickets can be refunded at the discretion of the station manager (so if this applies to you give them a good reason!)
Go to you local ticket office and get a refund, unfortunately as it says above you cannot sell the tickets on.
