Worn only twice !

Purchased in the US, with no receipt but have included jeweller valuation for the ring alone which was for £1850 (see pictures).

All in excellent condition, and have been cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner.

Ring is 14K in "an unusual design comprising a large central dark blue faceted marquis cut sapphire and eight round brilliant cut white diamonds. The centre stone is secured at the top and bottom into a wishbone shaped tension setting with four diamonds to each side below. The diamonds graduate slightly in size and are secured into white gold channel settings. Completing the ring is a plain polished yellow gold shank. Unhallmarked, stamped and tested as 14K gold.

Approx Sapphire measurement : 10x5 mm Marquis
Approx diamond measurement : 4@ 3.5mm round, [email protected] round

One Thousand, eight hundred and fifty pounds only "

The Original valuation certificate will be supplied with the ring. Ring is approximately size N based on wife's finger and online ring sizing chart.

Earings are 10K "a pair of sapphitre and diamond clusters on french wire fittings the sapphires approx 5.9mmx3mm (ca 0.22ct) each surrounded by eight single cuts measuring 0.8mm each. The earings are tested and valued as if 10ct gold. NRV £185".

I can supply a copy of the valuation certificate for the earrings (that the text above was taken from) but its has other items that my wife is keeping on it so cant supply the original.

Open to offers and more than willing to split

Genuine question, not trying to offend. How much was the appraiser willing to offer you against the £1850 valuation?
#3
The ring has only been worn twice in nine years?
#4
was interested in the earrings, are you willing to split ?

Yea - was bought on a whim in the US (back in the days before children when we could do that sort of thing). Was worn once on holiday, and once at an event back home and then the missus "went off it"

At the time we were not interested, we just wanted to get a valuation as you have to tell your insurance company of anything over £1500 in value.

Obviously replacement cost is full retail replacement value (including markups vat etc)

My thinking on the price was £400 for ring and £50 for earings, but am open to offers !

Willing to split - was thinking of around £400 for ring and £50 for earings but always open to an offer.

Surely you're better off walking into a good jewellers and selling it. Or an auction house. If it was valued at £1850 in 2002 then the price is likely to have gone up (as gold prices are higher now). You'd get a grand at least at a good auction.

Retail markup on jewellery is over 50%, plus it would be second hand as well, doubt a jeweller would offer much more than I am asking for on here, and selling on here means I dont have to trail into town and find a "quality second hand dealer" as opposed to high street chain...

T'is up to you of course. Just trying to help you out. I've sold jewellery at auction before and providing it's either old or new but in top condition I've always got about 70-80% of retail value. So even paying out the 15% house fees, you'd be quids in. Have a think. Maybe call an auction house in the morning and ask them.

actually, auction house is not something I had considered - I had assumed you meant ebay. I will definitely give that some thought...

To be honest, its a bit early to drop the price, Its only been listed for less than an hour. At the mo I'd hold out for asking. What were you thinking.
#14
about 25% lowere than sking, but see what interest you will get in this first,

Thanks, will definitely bear that in mind as a £300 offer is not miles away. Let me know if you feel you can move closer to asking ...

Rudz, you need to clear out your PM as I cant pm you ...

Tracking is showing as "Your item is being re-directed and will take longer to reach its final delivery address. This item is being sent to an address that has a redirection in force and will take an extra day or two to arrive."

Is this normal for your work address ?
