how do you provide the power needed with this?
#3
I'd need to check in the box tonight to see if there are any other cables - not sure as I've never used it.

well if there is a way of providing power to it to power the drives, I'll take it. I'll wait for you to get back to me.
#5
No probs. Will check the box this evening and post a pic of the contents.
#6
If Bassman doesn't take it i will.
You can buy a seperate power supply to go with these.

den169 - Turns out I have another USB-IDE adapter. Its not the whole set like the picture above, just the one cable/adapter (the bit on the far right if you turn your head 90 degrees to look at the photo). Will sell it for £3 delivered if you want it - you have first refusal before I re-post for someone else to buy.

Is it sata too like the first one Tussfc if so yes i'll take.
#20
Erm, I would say no. SATA is a small end isn't it?? This is literally just a USB at one end and at the other end a double sided plug which says "IDE-USB" on it and looks like the kind of plug you'd connect into a 3.5" hard drive. :-/

Will taking a close up shot help? (if I can get it to focus)
#21
Photo might help.It should have the same connections as your other sold one.

I used to use these all the time at my old work.

If you flip it over the other side to what you've pictured, is there not a sata plug moulded into the plastic?

Also to clear up about the power issue... All drives need external power except 2.5" IDE drives. 2.5" SATA, 3.5" SATA and 3.5" IDE drives all need to use external power.
