Looking for a bag (up to 4 of them as 4 of us are travelling) to take as hand luggage on a flight. Needs to be as big as possible within the limitations of the hand luggage (max 55cm x 40cm x 20cm), but at the same time as light as possible - max of about 400g, but lighter would be better as we're flying with Thomson and they only allow 5kg.

Will consider any style of bag - rucksack, tote, hold-all, trolley case or even just some sort of decent quality carrier bag (I considered taking those tartan bags that grannies take to the launderette but my friend said she'd disown us at the airport!), the lighter the better, and any more unusual ideas also considered.

Shipping/Payment:
Please include price inc cheapest delivery and either a photo or a link to something similar initially.

Doncaster

well anything with wheels is more than 500g..for a 5k luggage allowance i would take a light rucksack..kids schoolbags size should take 5k? why buy special ones?

dont look at size try it out yourself with a rucksack cos even if its fatter than 20cm it will squash into the holder?

Thanks! We had a bit of a purge of all the unnecessary bags last year so not really got a great deal of that sort of thing around. Did consider taking a Ben 10 school bag, but it's not really big enough - on the way back we're with Ryanair so get 10kg, so there's the potential to bring a few bits and bobs back with us. Definitely not looking to spend much money on it, but would happily spend a couple of quid if it was going to be a good solution.

How wierd is that? Our friends that we're going away with showed us exactly that same listing last night - they're planning on ordering a couple of those if they don't find anything cheaper! I gave my mother-in-law a black trolley bag like that a while ago, so I had thought about seeing if she still had it, but it is a little bit heavier than I'd hoped.

Thanks for the link!

It's still an option, but if I could have found anything lighter and cheaper, possibly second hand, then that would be perfect :)
