That doesn't look like a vga cable, looks more like a serial cable to me...
Should be a link here to a pic of a vga cable, but I've not posted an image here before, so fingers crossed.

just noticed the post above by GigerPunk, acn you confirm this is a vga lead and not a serial lead. i wanto connect my sky box to my vga monitor with it.

It's not a vga lead as noted above, it's a serial to PS/2 connector - a vga connector has three rows of pins rather than the two a serial connector has.

I don't think vga to s-video can even exist as a cable, you'd need a transcoder box of some sort.

VGA to SVideo is possible so long as the SVideo cable supports RGB rather than component and the input is RGB too. You are correct that despite RGB signals being compatible between VGA and RGB Svideo/SCART, circuitry is required for the conversion of VGA H-Sync and V-Sync signals.

I can unconditionally state that the item is NOT a VGA to SVideo cable and undetermined as to the reasons for the cable to be described as such.
