Currently have 2 x 1GB RAM in my vostro 1500 with Vista Premium but using a lot of heavy apps and regularly running out of memory. Need either a single 2GB module or 2 x 2GB modules (btw, I know it won't recognise the full 4GB on a 32-bit OS, but plan to upgrade to a 64-bit sometime later in the year). Thanks
Shipping/Payment:
Can pay by PP or BT.

Make sure you have 64 bit drivers for your Vostro or you will find things on your laptop wont work after 64 bit OS install.

yes, thanks. I plan to, and actually that's why I'm waiting a while to upgrade. Waiting for Vista SP1 to arrive before taking the plunge. Hopefully a lot of these issues will have been resolved by then.

Thanks Maurice. I'll probably go for that if I don't find someone here willing to sell one for a couple of quid cheaper. Cheers:thumbsup:

Hi, I am also thinking about upgrading my Vosto 1000 memory from 2 GB to 3 or 4... what is that about it not being recognized by Vista? I am running mine on Visa Home Premium and don't waste money in case it doesn't actually help...

Any feedback/explanation would be very much appreciated! Thanks all :)

Hi there - yes, I actually ordered the RAM from elsewhere and upgraded to 3GB in both my Vostros and it's made a great difference. My only reason for needing it was using video editing siftware that left me short of memory on Vista. The extra 1GB has resolved all the issues I had and it runs perfectly with editing software, 3 or 4 other apps and multiple tabs on IE Explorer all running at once. My office mate upgraded his M1330 to 2 x 2GB and it hasn't made a big difference for him, probably because he's already running a Core 2 Duo 2.2 chip and not video editing. His Vista Premium shows as recognising only 3.5 GB RAM, so there is also some wasted memory. My advice is to upgrade to 3GB if you multitask and have a 2 GHZ processor or less - however, unless you are having specific problems with lack of memory (you'll know when you do!) the 2GB is fine and the extra gig will simply open your applications a little faster. Hope that helps.
