What hardware will you be connecting to it? If you have a PS3 / Bluray player you will definately want a receiver which supports HDMI audio, such as the Sony STR-DH800 (about £250). Speakers will be from £150 upwards.

With a receiver such as the Sony above, you will be able to get TrueHD audio from a bluray player.

Advantages of a dedicated AV receiver over an all-in-one system is connectivity. All-in-one's have VERY limited connectivity.

You would need to check what connectivity is on the all-in-one. Some have 1 extra input (optical connection), others don't have any. Probably no all-in-one system will have an HDMI input (although I could be wrong). SkyHD needs to be connected by optical as the HDMI output only carries stereo.

Suppose you could be an optical switch box (2 input, 1 output).
