A 20Gb hard drive is very small nowadays.

Is it for a desktop or a laptop?

Is it IDE or SATA connection (I am not sure you can even gat a SATA as small as 20Gb)

as guilbert says...

if you want an IDE drive I can give you a 160GB one for £15+ post (desktop). Manufacture date 2009 and has been used exactly once to back up a laptop drive (now backed up elsewhere)

mine's internal - oh well :)

If you are looking for an external drive then the IDE / SATA connection does not matter as all external drives connect via the USB port.

Also external drives work on both desktop and laptop so it does not matter which it is for, an external drive works in both.

As I said, 20Gb is very small.

If you were looking to buy an external drive NEW I doubt you could buy one that was less than 250Gb.

Some external drives go up to 2Tb (2,000 Gb).

Note a "pen drive" is not as reliable as a hard disk and should not really be used as back up.

Yes you can buy an external "caddy" (with no hard disk in it).

Then you can put any disk inside you like.

I have an two empty caddies at home (one IDE one SATA) and I can put a disk into one or other of them that I take out of an old computer.
