This is the old style E-IDE/IDE/ATA drive, not a SATA drive.

To replace a 80GB drive in a Sony.

Let me know if you have one for sale.

Received it yesterday. Installing on Saturday, will leave feedback when I know everything's ok.

Put it in yesterday, tried in the laptop I was fixing and it has a terrible loud high pitched whine. Couldn't get passed Windows welcome screen when installing windows 7. Tried it in a working laptop and got the same.

Is it an official win7 disc or copy? I have had problems with homemade ISO's but not with my official disc.

Official Windows 7 32bit/64bit, homemade xp pro and home (but i have the keys). The worrying thing wasn't that the installs wouldn't work with Windows 7, it was the high pitched noise. I actually started to install xp pro and gave up half way through because of the terrible noise (people in the room were like "what the hell is that?").
So, I would like to send the drive back for a full refund (item was sent in a single jiffy bag, so that may have been the problem) and my search continues....
Plus the drive which was sent was 1inch think, but I am really looking for a 1cm ish thick drive.

Not sure that any 1" thick drive would fit in a laptop... Sounds like a failed drive to me.

yeah, my problem isn't the drive thickness, that's my fault if I got that wrong. Just saying, because I still want a drive, but would like a 1cm thick one now. Didn't even realise 2.5" drive came in different thicknesses.
