not 100% on this but as far as I am aware most netbooks have 2x1gb slots max, and 1 of those slots usually has soldered 512mb of ram thus its very hard to get it up to 2gb but easier for 1.5gb hope that helps in your request

I thought you would have to tell people what netbook it was to be used in to get the right one!! Are they all the same?

Hey thanx for letting me know. I did open the casing and found that it had a 1gb card in there just with one slot. So i was assuming that i would need to replace it with a 2 gb one. I think i will open it and check again lol.

Sorry and it is an Acer Aspire One 531

yeah DDR2 667 (PC5300) SODIMMS is what you'll want

Run the scan at crucial.com to see what the specs of the ram are - I've a couple of sticks but unsure of compatibilty.

Hey thanx guys, because i am using windows 7, the crucial scanner didnt work so i looked it up on the selective options.

It came with this to work in my netbook

DDR2 memory with support for DDR2 PC2-5300 speeds.

 umm... see

some brands of ram are called PC5400 btw, they're perfectly fine too. it just depends how they round the numbers.

EDIT: but remember the SODIMMS bit, that means it's the half size laptop sticks. don't buy the full size ones because they're cheaper. they won't fit.
