I am after a Pentium 3 or similar computer. Preferred specs are: P3 1Ghz, 256MB RAM - 128MB considered), 40GB + Hard drive, DVD Rom Drive, Floppy Drive. *** The P3 machine MUST have a 3D card in it, prefer a Voodoo 3DFX but others considered.

Please note, I am not looking for a spec greater than this so please do not offer.

Am also interested in a 486 DOS based machine with cdrom drive.

Monitor not needed, and please list all specs (with manufacturers of parts if known) and prices must include delivery.

Paypal waiting.

P3 base unit sorted, still looking for a 486 unit.

as if it helps i may have a voodoo 3DFX but wouldnt be able to get my hands on it for at least a week

looks like someone intends to play some old school games.

I have been asked to reinvent the wheel for want of a better phrase, and recode an old piece of software, I just wanted an authentic machine to run it on as apposed to using a virtual machine. The 3DFX bit was simply for me to play a few oldies in the downtime :)
#4
where abouts are you?,
i will have this stuff in my workshop but really couldn't be spending too much time on it, you can have most of the bits as long as i'm not expected to do anything ;)
#5
I'm in East London, which is miles away from you in Cumbria, but thanks for the offer, it was appreciated
#6
bumpy..... I have sorted out a P3 machine, but I am STILL looking for a 486 based machine (might even take a 386 at a push)
#7
2nd bumpy, come on guys, someone must have something lying around somewhere!
#8
i have lots of processors and isa cards lol
what exactly is it you are wanting to do?, dos and windows 3.1 will run on even very recent machines.
#9
DOS and Windows 3.1 will indeed run on recent machines, however a LOT of the software written at the time relied on the CPU clock for timings, hence why although DOS and WIn 3.1 may install and run on a P4 2.4Ghz without problems, other programs (especially games, but a lot of productivity and bespoke software) runs way too fast.

As for ISA cards what do you have? I have a collection here that I use, but its always good to fill in any blanks.

SB16 Pro if you have one, Yamaha / ESS cards, particullarly after a Gravis Ultrasound for compatibility more than anything.

no sign of the gravis but there is a sound blaster 16 isa , remember u used to program the rom on them with a setup disk but still worked well in win 95.
too many others to list prob 40 or 50 cards in the box.
isa, pci agp, nic scsi, modems, 3dfx1, 2x2 in sli and a 5 lol, a rare s3 virge 1st gaming 3d card ever!!

maddogb - Is the SB16 a Pro? Whats the chipset CT????, also I have a 3DFX 1 and a 2 but could do with another for SLI, but will take the 3dfx and 3dfx 2 (2 of) depending on price.

Unibond - Will take that Yamaha please. Actually could you do that and the LG 52x cdrom you have in another thread for £5 delivered for the pair?

I'd do both for £6, no less. I'd need to buy a box and the postage would be quite heavy.
